Chapter 15

I was awaken by the little noises of phone calling. It is still dark when I woke up reminding me that it is still night time. But the noise is already loud it keeps me awake.

Inabot ko ang cellphone sa bed side table. Dalawa iyon at dalawa rin talagang nagvavibrate. Kaya pala sobrang ingay.

I was about to reach more for it when suddenly the warmth around me tightens.

"Hmmm..." gumawa siya ng ingay ngunit hindi naman bumangon. Humigpit lang talaga ang akap niya sa akin at mas lalo siyang sumiksik sa akin.

Muli inabot ko na ang dalawang cellphone at tinignan ang tumatawag dito. My phone present the name of my mom and her number. While the other phone shows the same thing, mom's name and her number.

I decided to answer my phone first.

"Mom?" my voice was so weak it turns out like a whisper.

"Sorry for the late call, darling. But I just want to clarify, are you going with your husband?" it was really my Mom. And calling me at this late hour is so rare and unexpected.

"I'm not, Mom. And we already talked about it."

"Oh no, ija. You should come with him. Your Aunt Helga was worried about you staying alone in your condo. And I get worried also." Aunt Helga was Dan's Mom. And they are best friends.

"But Mom, I have classes. I'm used to living alone, don't worry too much. And oh gosh, it's only 12 in the morning." if only Dan was not beside me, I could speak more things. But knowing that he has flight early this morning, I just can't.

Wow I think like a real wife there, as if I'm not a wife already.

I feel Dan suddenly kiss the top of my head before speaking,"Who is it?" mukhang nagising ko na agad siya. His voice came out a whisper also. It's been one hour since we just sleep so basically, we're just effin tired.

"Mom," I whispered back.

"I know darling, but you can just go with him and we can excuse you. You can take some online activities too if you're that worried." she's basically just forcing me.

"Mom, I'll be dead bored there. Besides, he's leaving for a few hours and I'm not ready."

Right before I speak, he whispered again.

"We can pack yours." pinandilatan ko nga siya. Akala naman niya ang dali dali lang mag isip ng mga susuotin. At isa pa, inaantok pa talaga ako.

Humikab ako tsaka sumiksik lalo sa comforter na nakabalot sa aming dalawa. Hinigpitan naman niya lalo ang akap niya ng maramdaman ang ginawa ko.

"I can book you a flight now darling, and you really don't have to pack a lot. You can just go and shop there. Besides, Dan will be happy if you go with him.

Think of it as a vacation for both of you. After your wedding, all you both did was to study. It's our fault to make things go faster but it's for the better." 

I don't know if I even really understand what she's saying because I'm super duper sleepy and I can't argue anymore.

"fine mom, sasama na ako. Just please, let me have my sleep."

Someone chuckles behind me and if I only have the energy I already kick him out of this bed. He's taking my privacy too much.

"Okay you pack now darling. Love you always, have a fun trip."

"Love you too, Mom."

Right after I answered, hinulog ko nalang ang cellphone ko sa gilid ng unan ko at natulog ng tuluyan. I even hug the pillow I have on my side and just really feel the silence.

"You'll go with me now?" I can sense the happiness in his voice. As much as I want to put sarcasm on him, I just nodded.  "You'll pack now or I'll just do it for you?"

Because of the laziness all I can reply was, "Do what you want." and everything go silent. Like for a minute only. And I know I'm almost near of catching my sleep again.

"Okay. Sleep well, honey." then I felt those warmth off of my body and a slightly gentle kiss on my forehead.

I'll bet he'll pack for me really, and I just can't dare to stop him because I'm already asleep.
