Demi's POV

Throughout that next month, Odell was put under investigation and because he was under an active investigation, he had to be suspended from the team until it was over. I felt so bad for him because I know he loves football. It ended up getting out in the media what happened also which meant that he was getting criticized from every angle. Luckily, most people didn't believe it, but the few that did would write a ton of articles about it and the headlines were everywhere. Odell didn't leave the house once because he was so embarrassed. I tried to be there for him, but there was only so much I could do especially when he kept assuring me he was fine even if I knew he wasn't. We also legally couldn't talk about it publicly which was even harder because I so badly wanted to say a piece of my mind on Twitter or Instagram on some days because of the hate Odell was getting. Today though is Leilani's second birthday. Her actual birthday is on Monday, but we decided to do her party on Saturday. She woke up this morning super excited and practically bouncing off the walls. We decided to do a petting zoo theme because she is obsessed with animals. She asks to go to the zoo almost everyday and I feel bad every time we say no. Odell wasn't up for going out in public, so I would take her down the street so she can feed the ducks that are at the lake. Today though, she will be having a ton of animals to pet and feed right in our backyard so I know she will have a lot of fun. We didn't actually tell her that the animals were going to be there yet, all she knows is she's having a party for her birthday. People are just starting to arrive for her party when I get a text message that the people are here with the animals so I go to the front and direct them to the backyard while I kept Lani away because we still wanted to surprise her with them. When she did see all the animals though, she was so excited and was jumping up and down. I took a million pictures of her and when Heather came over, I looked around for Odell and couldn't find him.

"Heather, do you know where Odell went?" I ask and she looks up at me.

"He got a call from his agent right now. He went inside." She says and I nod.

"Mind keeping an eye on her? I'm just gonna go check on him." I ask and she nods.

"Of course not. Here, I'll take Alaia too." She says taking Laia out of my arms and I give her a small smile before walking inside. I find Odell in the office downstairs that is really more where he holds meetings and where he keeps his trophies and stuff.

"Hey, you okay baby?" I ask when I see him staring at one of his MVP trophies. "Babe?" I ask walking closer to him when he doesn't reply and he turns to me and I see tears in his eyes making my heart race. "What's wrong?" I ask again.

"I only had one more year with Cleveland. This was that year and then I was most likely getting traded again unless they wanted me longer." He whispers and I nod waiting for him to continue. "The season is almost up and Cleveland doesn't want me anymore." He says and I sigh sadly.

"I'm sorry. I'm sure you'll get traded though to a great team." I say but he shakes his head as he runs his hand down his face making me confused.

"That's the thing Demi. My agent just told me that no other teams seem interested either. They see that I'm under investigation for some shit I didn't even do and no one wants a fucking alleged rapist." He says raising his voice slightly before turning the other way.

"Baby." I start but he shakes his head.

"No. I don't need the sympathy." He says and I take a deep breath and walk around him so I'm facing him and when I do, I see a tear streaming down his face as he looks straight passed me.

"Someone will want you. They would be stupid to let you go. You're one of the best wide receivers in the league." I say as I bring my hand up to his cheek and wipe away his tear.
