(Michaels POV) As Jeremy knocked on the door Michael fiddled with the hem of his shirt extremely nervous about meeting Jeremy's mom. He heard some clattering and presumably Jeremy's mom opened the front door . "Hi!"She motioned for them to both come inside. Jeremy looked extremely happy to be here but Michael was as stiff as a statue. "So you must be Jeremy's friend right?" She said in a friendly tone, Michael couldn't make eye contact and fiddled with his hands, "Y-yes that's me." He replied quietly. Jeremy looked over at Michael with a look of concern.
"Come! Sit down." Her hand motioned over to one of the two couch's. "I'm a bit busy in the kitchen at the moment so sorry about that!" she quickly walked back into the kitchen, leaving Michael and Jeremy sitting awkwardly next to each other. "So Michael how did you and Jeremy meet?" She said from the kitchen .Jeremy looked over at Michael giving him a look, Michael couldn't just say How it really happened so he tried his best to make up a lie "Oh um..we met at a library..study group.." Jeremy refrained from laughing at his friend's terrible lying. Mrs.Fitzgerald looked down at her watch and her eyes widened, "I completely forgot I had to help my friend move some furniture today!" She debated on what to do, "I'm really sorry but I have to go! I'll be back in an hour..try not to let the food burn?" She grabbed her bag and ran out the door.
Jeremy and Michael looked at eachother not really knowing what to do. "We could try to finish cooking the food?"
"Good idea..Just a warning I'm not good in the kitchen." Jeremy let out a small chuckle at that and they both began towards the kitchen. It looked as though she had gotten the ingredients to make bread, but the directions had gotten water spilled on them. "She was probably trying to make bread..so let's try!" Jeremy said happily. Michael gave a small smile that was rare for Jeremy to see, Jeremy blushed lightly while grabbing the flour. "Do you know how to make bread?"
"I know she some of the ingredients out but the recipe paper is drenched in water.."
"Let's just try to make bread."Jeremy opened the flour and poured some into the bowl but spilled quite a bit and it got onto Michael's dark purple shirt, Jeremy laughed as Michael gave him a playful glare. "I put flour in..what should we do next?" Michael looked thoughtful for a moment before saying "We should put the milk in next I suppose." He went to the fridge to grab the milk realizing there's was barely any left,He handed the milk carton over to Jeremy as he looked for a whisk in the drawers. He heard a soft "Oops.." Come from Jeremy and looked over to see the milk spilled all over the counter.
"Jeremy!"
"It's not my fault I'm a clutz!"
Michael sighed, They both went over to where the napkins were kept, and both reached at the same time their hands lightly touching. Michael pulled his hand away so fast Jeremy barely had time to process what just happened.
Michael awkwardly broke the silence by saying "I'll just clean it up.."
"We should also go get more milk at the supermarket.."
"Uh..yea." Michael went to clean up the spilled milk while Jeremy waited outside the kitchen for him to finish. Michael walked out shortly after having also brushed the flour that got on his shirt off. "I can pay for the milk." Michael said. Jeremy looked at Michael with stubbornness replying with "No I'm paying."
"No your not Jeremy I'm paying for it." Jeremy quickly realized Michael was even more stubborn than him.
(Short time skip to them driving to the supermarket)
(Michaels POV)
Michael was driving while Jeremy listened to music next to him in the front seat. I'm almost completely sure everybody I used to know has left this place. I can't imagine any of them staying, Henry, Charlie and the others would hate this place after everything that went down here . And after all the pain I caused them. I wonder how they are now. Michael thought to himself. He pulled up in a parking space fairly close to the entrance of the store. He tapped A zoned out Jeremy on the shoulder as to let him know they have arrived.
As They walked in Cold air hit their faces. Michael shivered while Jeremy sighed In relief. Michael went over to the stack of plastic shopping baskets grabbing the one on top. Him and Jeremy walked around attempting to find the milk. "I have to go to the bathroom be right back!" Jeremy said quickly going to the back of the store where the bathrooms were located. Michael felt more tense while walking down the aisles, He felt more vulnerable without Jeremy by his side. He eventually found the aisle where the milk was located, He prepared himself to walk into the aisle as he saw another person there, their back turned to him as they browsed what was inside the freeezer. He couldn't bring himself to be in that close proximity with a stranger to he walked to the nearest aisle waiting for them to leave.
He soon saw them leave the aisle. He hadn't seen their face but they wore a plain green jacket and had medium length brown hair. It seemed familiar to him but he decided to not dwell on it. He walked into the aisle and saw a card that wasn't there before previously, Michael picked it up. It appeared to be a credit card this mystery person had dropped. They probably haven't left yet! I have to give this to them. Michael quickly walked out of the aisle and went checking all of the aisles . He looked into the last aisle and saw the same brown hair and green jacket, their back was still turned to him . He slowly walked over tapping their shoulder. They turned around, Michael droppped the card in shock. He couldn't see her right now. He couldn't face her. Why did this have to happen. I can't do this. Michael thought .
