Gyuri entered her room to see Goeun was glued to her study table. She gave Gyuri a glance. "Hanging out?"
"Yup. Why are you still up at this hour?" "I have quiz tomorrow. So I need to revise a bit" "Ah I see"
Gyuri took her jacket off.
"Hanging out with Wonwoo?" Goeun asked. "How can you guess?" "Because he had been around you lately. Are you two..."
Gyuri turned to look at Goeun as she felt her stare. "I'm not dating him" Gyuri replied as if know the question Goeun about to ask. "Yet" Goeun added. "What the" Gyuri chuckled. "Hey, thing could turn out that way, who knows" Goeun turned to her laptop again. Gyuri smirked and shook her head.
Her eyes went to her bed. *So that's what Goeun saw the other night. It was Daniel who came out from my dream and sat with me* She smirked.
* * *
"Let me grab my things" Wonwoo was walking out the cafeteria with Gyuri. "Alright. I'll wait for you at the library" she replied. She watched him walked away.
Gyuri walked up the stairs to the library. She sat between the book shelves and began to unpack her things. *Let's see if he can find me in here* she covered her mouth with her hand as she giggled.
Gyuri took a few books and sat again. She was busy writing and reading.
"Found you"
She looked up to see Wonwoo walked towards her at end of the alley beside the wide window. Upon sit, he began to unpack his things. "You do love to sit here, do you?"
"Woah" she tilted her head to him. "I don't expect you to find me in here"
"Tsk" he smirked. "You always sit in this spot whenever you come to the library"
"Woah. Now you're stalking me? How can you know about my favourite spot?"
"Oh" he met her eyes but quickly looked away. "Just... I saw you before this sitting here in the library. And recently too. You're sitting here. So I thought this must be your favourite spot"
"Alright then" she was satisfied with his answer. Gyuri turned to her laptop again. Wonwoo sighed as he almost blew his cover of following her around.
Wonwoo looked at the screen too. "You already wrote one full page?! That's fast!"
"Here" she held the laptop to him. "Since it's group work, do your part. I already done mine"
"Alright then" he took the laptop and pulled one of the books towards him. His eyes were on the book. But his stare shifted towards somewhere else.
Gyuri was tying up her hair, eyes fixed on the pages of book in her lap. Natural light from the wide window behind her masked her in shadow. She finished fixing her hair and noticed a stare on her. She turned to Wonwoo and caught him off guard. He quickly turned to the screen.
"Yah" she called. "Yea?" he fixed his eyes on the screen. "Wonwoo-yah~" she called once again.
Wonwoo turned to her. Gyuri already brought her knees in her embrace and rested her cheek on her knees. "You're staring at me"
"No I'm not!" his face was red. "Yes you are" she giggled. But her giggle didn't last long. Wonwoo leaned in. He reached his hand out and curled a strand of her hair behind her ear. He backed away, leaving Gyuri stunted at his action.
"Your messy hair is disturbing me. People might have their eyes on you when you look that messy" he forced himself to concentrate on the assignment in front of him.
"Oh" Gyuri cleared her throat and fixed her position. She held the book close to her face, trying to read. "Thanks"
Wonwoo saw her and chuckled.
Wonwoo came back to the spot after he went to the toilet. Gyuri was staring at her phone. He looked at the screen too. It was the picture she took with Daniel. "Already miss him?" he sat at his place. "Of course" she smiled widely. "You'll meet him later during dinner. Just wait for a bit. And" he turned to her. "How can you still miss him when the three of us had dinner together every single day?"
"Don't know" she giggled as she looked at the other pictures of Daniel.
Wonwoo pouted and continued with the work. Gyuri put her phone away and looked at the laptop screen too.
"Who is Daniel actually?" Wonwoo suddenly asked. He turned to her.
"I don't think I can tell you" "Or you want me to take a guess?" "Go on. Your guess will be wrong anyway" "He's your story character, isn't he?"
Gyuri turned to him, stunted. "What... How..."
"At first he just appears in your dream. And you decided to write about your dream which then you decide to turn it into a story" he continued "Am I right?"
Gyuri continued to stare at him and lost for words for a few moments.
"It seems that I'm right" Wonwoo's shoulder fell and he turned to the laptop again. Gyuri snatched the laptop from him. "Hey-" he was about to protest when he noticed her stare on him. "Gyuri"
"How can you know about it?"
Wonwoo sighed and looked away.
"Come on tell me!" she demanded.
"I was...a Dream Writer too"
Gyuri gasped. Wonwoo couldn't lift his head for a few moments. He looked up and she could see his melancholic eyes. He chuckled. "Well I was. That was a long time ago. When I was still in middle school. Now I don't write anymore, not even my dream. I don't dare to do so"
"What do you mean? What happen?" "Well, something bad happen" he swallowed the lump. "I saw her"
"Who?"
"Jiwoo. She vanished. And I never dreamt about her again. That's why" he looked up to Gyuri. "No matter how much I wanted to write down my dream and recall them again, I couldn't bring myself to do so. I don't want the same thing to happen again"
Silence accompanied them. Wonwoo had his head buried in his knees in his embrace. Gyuri stared ahead, lost in her thought.
"Hey" Wonwoo called. She turned to him. "I'm not sharing my story to scare you" he smirked. He looked away and sighed. "I'm sure your decision to proceed Daniel's story is the best choice. You can't keep him in our world forever"
"But" she sighed. "I'm scared"
"Will Daniel end up like Jiwoo?" her pupil wavered.
"You know, when I lost Jiwoo, I was alone. I face the hard time all by myself because no one will care or believe me if I share about it. But if, if by any chance, the same thing happens to Daniel" Wonwoo locked eyes with her. "I'm here for you. You'll not face the hardship alone"
Gyuri wiped her tears that slid down her face. She mustered a smile. "I'm sorry that you're the one who is comforting me"
"It just that... Because I know how it feels like" "Good job, Wonwoo"
They locked eyes once again.
"For hanging in there though you're alone" she continued. "You're a tough guy, ain't you?" she chuckled.
He smirked. "Tsk! Of course I am"
