Chapter 24:

I kept on yawning as the plane landed on NAIA. I feel so dizzy and sleepy but I won't sleep because this will be the only chance I'll have before Ruby went back to Baguio.

This jetlag damn sucks, but I won't lose to it.

As I took my luggage, my heart started beating so fast. Alam ko na sa dami ng taong naghihintay ngayon sa airport, isa ro'n si Ruby. I haven't read her messages because my phone is still on flight mode, but I really have this feeling that she's there.

She's near... finally.

I walked near the people waiting for their family from their flight. I stopped walking when I saw a smiling little woman, holding a bond paper with my name on it.

I quickly walked towards her and hugged her tight, leaving my luggage behind. I felt her arms hugged me back as she chuckled.

"I missed you..." I whispered.

Hindi kami madalas magkausap noong nasa London ako dahil sa time difference kung saan minsan, ang umaga sa London ay oras naman ng pagtulog ni Ruby. I became busy with Macy's birthday party and touring the country with them.

I almost came home earlier than today because I missed Ruby so much.

"Nandito na ako," she said as her hug gets tighter.

I didn't know what it is but I almost cried. I've never cried for simple things or for anything that makes me so happy, but why am I getting teary-eyed right now?

I broke the hug and cupped her face to claim her lips. I felt her laugh in between the kiss but she still kissed me back. After few seconds, we broke the kiss too.

"There's your pasalubong; a kiss fresh from London."

Kinurot niya ang tiyan ko, tsaka tumawa, bago ako inaya nang lumabas. Hinila ko na rin ang luggage ko at hawak kamay kaming lumabas ng airport.

She was the one to drive the car because she knows that I am having a jetlag right now. Mahirap na rin mag-drive ngayong madaling-araw lalo na't medyo nahihilo ako. Baka mamaya, maaksidente pa kami.

"Matulog ka after you ate, ha? Nagluto ako ng curry," she said while driving.

I smirked. "Hindi ako matutulog."

Tumingin siya sa akin, nagpipigil ng mga ngiti. "At bakit?" she teased before looking again at the road. Ilang sandali pa, nakita namin ang pagpatak ng tubig ulan kaya naman mabilis niya rin binuksan ang windshield wiper.

"Hmm, I think there's something I heard the last time..."

She pouted, trying to conceal her smile. Hmmm... "And what is that?"

"Something about closing the distance..." she chuckled but quickly covered her mouth with her free hand. "I mean, closer..."

She smirked before looking at me. "Kung hindi ka makakatulog," she said, trying to sound challenging.

Really, woman? Ako pa talaga, ha? Sanay akong hindi matulog for two to three days straight. She dared to challenge me?

"Hindi ako makakatulog."

She laughed. "Kumain ka na lang at magpahinga. We can close the distance sometime, kapag wala kang jetlag."

I shook my head as I held her free hand. "I am perfectly fine."
