That night after dinner, Charlie, Rue, Damon and I were lounging around in the Gryffindor Common Room. The other three were groaning and complaining about eating too much food while I pulled out my Charms essay to start working on.
Rue eyeballed me like I was crazy. "You're gonna do homework on the first day?"
I shrugged. "I like finishing homework right away so that I can have more time to do other stuff."
Charlie sighed. "I should start Snape's essay, but I'm. too. Tired."
I shook my head and bent down, flipping though my charms book for some reference, when a voice said "Charlie, how was your first day back 'lil bro?"
I glanced up to see Bill coming over and sitting at the end of the sofa that I was sitting on. He didn't even glance at me. I looked back down at my book and scooted further away from Bill.
"It was fine," Charlie mumbled.
"Except for the fact that he turned half of his hair into worms in Transfiguration." Rue said smirking.
Charlie growled while Damon and I laughed. My laughter caught Bill's attention.
"Ah and who's this?" he said to me. "Are you in third year?"
I blinked. He had to be joking. There was no way he didn't remember my face at all after having classes with me everyday for the past three years.
"I'm sorry?" I asked politely.
"Are you in third year?" he repeated and I felt my heart sink.
"I'm in fourth year." I said tonelessly.
Bill's eyes widened and his ears turned red.
"I- what? But-" he sputtered. "I never noticed you before!"
"Hm yes, quite strange isn't it." I said sarcastically. "There aren't too many people in our year and we have been having classes together everyday for three years,"
"I'm really sorry....er...what was your name again?"
I stood up and collected my things. "Fawn Starling." I said. "I'm tired I'm going to bed. Night Charlie, Rue, Damon."
I ruffled Charlie's hair as I walked past. I heard Charlie say "Wow, way to go Bill. How thick can you get?" and I almost smiled at his words.

The rest of the week passed by in a blur. We had tons of homework and Charlie, Rue, Damon and I were getting closer everyday. I started seeing them as the little siblings I've always wanted.
Bill kept trying to talk to me and walk me to classes, but I always made up excuses and walked away from him. I don't know why I was so offended. I always knew he wouldn't know my name or something, but the fact that he didn't even know my face really hurt.
Even his best friends, Lucas Watcher and Finley Moore were surprised at Bill. I overheard them talking before Transfiguration one day.
"You seriously don't remember her at all?" Lucas asked.
Bill shook his head sheepishly.
Finley clicked his tongue. "Damn Bill, you're not so bright are you?"
Bill's ears turned a bright cherry red. I noticed this in both Bill and Charlie, where their ears would get red whenever they got embarrassed or flustered.
On Friday night, I sat in the common room doing homework with Charlie as Rue and Damon played Wizard Chess at our feet.
"Hey Charles, do you think I'm overreacting?" I asked Charlie, putting my History of Magic essay down. "By ignoring Bill?"
