I was on the Hogwarts Express on my way to my fourth year at Hogwarts. I was sitting alone in a compartment, curled up in a seat and pouring over my Potions book. No one ever came to sit with me and I never went to sit with them. I liked being alone, it was peaceful. I never had to worry about peoples drama and I could just do my own thing, and not give a damn about what other people thought.
Anyway, the train finally arrived at Hogwarts and I stepped off, hauling my trunk, owl cage, and broomstick towards the carriages that would take us to the castle. I heard the familiar call of "Over here firs' years! Over here!" and I looked up to see Hagrid.
"Hi Hagrid!" I called out grinning.
Hagrid grinned back and waved. "Fawn! I hope you had a good summer!"
I went over to a carriage and put my stuff in. A small group came to sit in the same carriage as me, but they pretended I wasn't there. I spent the ride admiring the beautiful castle underneath the stars. When we arrived at Hogwarts, everyone walked into the Great Hall and sat down. The sorting started and then it was time to eat. As I was reaching over for a bowl of peas, a head popped up through the table.
"Nick!" I greeted warmly.
The Gryffindor ghost Nearly Headless Nick smiled at me. "Fawn! How was your summer?" he asked, floating in front of me.
"Oh it was wonderful, I went to Italy with my parents and visited the Colosseum in Rome!"
He smiled. "Sounds like fun."
"It was, I wish I could go again."
After the food, the tables cleared and it was time to go to bed. I went up to my Dorm and flopped on my bed. As I was pulling the curtains around my bed, the three other girls in my year burst into the room.
Katherine Abbott and Olivia Jones waved to me and smiled. They were nice enough. We weren't friends but they spoke to me occasionally. But our third roommate, Anna Davis, wrinkled her nose at me. "Oh, your still here." was all she said before turning away.
I turned over in my bed, smiling to myself. Same old Hogwarts.

I woke up the next morning, got ready for the day and went downstairs to find everyone crowded around the notice board. I scooched between a few people and read the sign. My heart jumped.
Hello Gryffindor's! We are looking for one new Chaser, one new Beater and a new Seeker! If you are interested in joining our Quidditch team, come to tryouts on Saturday, September 6. It will be held at the Quidditch Pitch at 2pm after lunch! Hope to see you there, and good luck.
Attention: First years are NOT eligible to tryout due to Hogwarts school rules.
"Woah," I whispered, they were finally looking for a new Beater. I had to go to the tryouts.
A small and short second year boy with a mass of red hair appeared beside me, his blue eyes shining bright.
"Are you trying out?" he asked me breathlessly.
I was surprised for a moment, that someone had actually talked to me, off their own accord. But I got over my shock quickly and smiled. "Yea I am, I'm trying out for the Beater spot. What about you?"
He grinned. "I'm trying out for Seeker!"
I grinned back. The small boy stuck his hand out. "Charles Weasley, everyone calls me Charlie though. You can too!"
I shook his hand. "I'm Fawn Starling."
"Fawn? What an interesting name, I like it."
"Thank you."
