The first thing he saw when he blinked his eyes open was the little clouds drawn on the roof. He yawned softly, gazing up in confusion. Were they always there? Hyunjin felt his body protest as he slowly sat up, grimacing at the throbbing in his head.
He groaned when everything seemed to attack him all at once, the scents in the room assaulting him and making his head throb even more. It was too much and he hated the fact that he could recognize all of them, as if they had been familiar to him for years. They smelled like pack.
Wait...
Pack?
Hyunjin looked around, realizing this wasn't his room. It was one of the few rooms he had yet to enter since they were constantly locked. All except for the pack room, of course.
There were so many scents here.
He swallowed thickly, scanning the room through blurry eyes.
The bed was enormous. He was lying in the middle of a space made out of blankets and pillows stapled on top of each other as if they had been arranged that way for a while, seemingly like a nest. The ceiling was painted black unlike the other rooms and it was like someone had hand-painted it themselves. Looking closer now, he realized that the roof represented a starry sky. But the odd, white clouds stood out just above his head, their fluffy forms entirely unfitting the concept. The rest of the room was painted white, the lights warm and dim as they lit up the room.
There wasn't a lot of furniture, mostly the bed, two nightstands and a smaller table to his right. The wardrobes, who were pressed to the right walls, were plain and big, their brown color softening the hue of the room. Big, high windows showed the darkening sky, sun already gone behind the clouds, its gloominess taking over the day.
How long was he out?
Gosh, he couldn't have possibly fainted in front of Minho, right?
He looked at the windows again, listening as rain started to hit the glass, the rumble of thunder in the distance. His hoodie smells like Minho. Same berry and caramel scent, making his heart ache.
At the same time, Chan's matcha scent remained, as if ingrained on his skin. It was annoying how well they fit together, despite being so vastly different. Hyunjin smelled his sweater, recognizing the subtle vanilla scent of Felix and sighed. The nest - he must be in the pack room. It was reeking of Felix, given it was his nest, but there were also other weaker scents who had seemingly worn off. He could identify all of them, of course.
Chan's scent was the strongest right now, along with Felix's. Minho's scent was among the ones who had worn off. There was a woodsy scent that he recalled belonged to Seungmin, the quiet beta who he had been wary of the night they met, Jeongin's fresh citrus scent, apple and cinnamon that must belong to Changbin and the rain scent that he connected to Jisung. Somehow, his own scent had been mixed into the room too, as if Felix had been nesting with something of his.
Wait.
His scent was in the nest. Why was it in the nest?
He wasn't a part of the pack!
Panicked, Hyunjin looked around, trying to identify what particle of clothing the omega could have stolen from him. How did they even- This wasn't possible.
He never left his room! He didn't hear anyone come in, didn't see anyone and if he didn't notice, someone must've snuck in during the night, which makes it all worse because yes, he knew they could do that all along, but did they seriously stare at him like creeps as he slept?!
How long had they been wanting to force him to join their pack? He hadn't heard of such a case before, unless it was one of the Christian cults that now and then occurred in Korea. He's quite positive these people weren't Christian though. Or even religious at all. How long had they known who he was?
