Acting dead is easier than you think. Zombies are dumb, stupid creatures that don’t have a mind of their own, they all follow each other around. Occasionally, one or two zombies notice the difference in us, the fact that we are humans, but like I said before, they don’t have a mind on their own, they all do what everybody else is doing. Zombies can’t talk so they can’t tell their buddy, “Hey I think that is a human” and if only one thinks or does a certain thing, than it looks weird to them or something I think. But, let’s say that around three or four of them starts heading towards us, than the rest will follow. And, zombies aren’t like they depict them in movies and books and stuff. They move just like humans do, a little bit slower, but not by much. None of that arms out in front of them shit, it’s not like that. They don’t make any noise, not even grunts or moans. But, they do look gross. Most of the time, clumps of skin are hanging off of them, once and a while, you see a zombie with no skin left at all, and about a quarter of the time, all of the skin is still on the body. They have splatters of human blood all around their face, up and down their arms, and splattered on their clothes. They always have some of their own, green, nasty blood on them too. If they have skin left on them, it is mostly moldy and stinks. Like, really really really stinks. They feed on both human intestines and brains. They can smell human blood most of the time, so that is the hardest part of going out, but the scent of human blood us usually masked by the smell of their own blood, which doesn’t really smell to us, but I guess it smells to them.
I look over at Danni who looks the most like a zombie out of all of us. She put human blood all over her clothes and mainly her face. She kinda looks like a clown because she placed it perfectly on her nose.
Looking for a new place is one of the hardest things to do. Every place we go seems to be inhabited by zombies already. Caves are the best place we have. Houses are the first things that were taken over. We once found an abandoned grocery store. That was the best. It had tons of food, some of it was moldy and expired, but most of it was still good. That is the place we lasted the longest. We could hide a lot of places, and it was the largest place we stayed in. We got raided after about three to four months.
Last time we spent about an hour or two walking around trying to find a new place when we finally found our cave that we just left not more than three hours ago.
After about a half an hour of walking I feel Danni kick me and I look up at her. I was surprised that she found a place so quick, it usually takes twice as long. She cocks her head towards what looks like an old clothing store. I had noticed it before, but we had never tried before. We had been too cautious about zombies living there because usually big sheltered places like that are. I guess that Danni wants to give it a try. It looks dark and locked, but I know that we have multiple ways of getting in. I eye the knife in a pocket of the overalls I’m wearing. Danni has the two guns with her, and Margret has a baseball bat with her. Margret, who was to the other side of me noticed we stopped, she stands next to us but doesn’t look at us. I give a hard stomp on her toes. She shoots me an evil glare and I stifle a laugh. Danni cocks her head again towards the store and Margret nods. Her face becomes serious. I can image she is thinking the same thing I thought before. We look around and make sure that no other zombies notice what we are doing. Like I said before, if they did, there is a 95% chance that they would follow us. Margret gives me a nudge and I nudge Danni. Danni nods and steps into the grass and Margret and I follow. Danni then looks around, gives us a thumbs up, and then rolls. Margret and I are close behind. This is my favorite part of finding a new home, we get to act like ninjas and roll around a lot. Danni stops and crouches behind a bush. The first time we found a new place and Danni stopped, Margret kept on rolling all the way to the stop. Now, we stop and follow Danni. Danni is kinda our leader. She is the oldest out of all of us, and to her that means that she should be in charge. We didn’t really protest when she made that announcement. I remember laughing at her defiant stance she took when she yelled that she wanted to be in charge. I realize that that was almost a year ago. I snap back into present time and look up to see that the store is about three hundred feet away. Danni presses herself to the ground and slinks across the ground like a snake. I slither up behind her and Margret makes a hissing noise behind me and I look back and see her sticking out her tongue. I make a little giggle and she grins at me. We are all really a big bunch of goofballs when we can to be. When we are not blending in, shooting zombies, or hiding, we are goofing off.
