"What?!" Thorn practically screeched. "How do they know we're here?!"
"We don't know, but Lychee can hear the queen calling through the hive mind so we need to go, now!" Cinnabar told them as she took the lead, rushing down the hallway towards the window where Robin and Thorn had flown in through yesterday.
As soon as the two dragons were out of the room, they were quickly following behind the pink and blue SilkWing with Caterpillar, Cavansite and Lychee running behind them.
How does the hive know we're here? I'm positive we weren't seen by anyone! Robin's mind was racing as she ran.
Cinnabar leaped through the window seemingly without any second thoughts. Her large sparkling wings shooting out to catch her and lift her up with the breeze.
"Hurry!" Caterpillar snapped, sounding panicked as Thorn leaped through the window, followed by Lychee and Cavansite.
Robin took her turn with Caterpillar right on her tail as they leaped out the window, their wings shoot out to catch them.
"Where are we even going?! There's no where to hide on Pantala from the hives!" Cavansite panicked as they all flew as fast as their wings could carry them. Robin had no idea where they were even going, all she knew was that they were flying away from the Bloodworm Hive, a place she thought was safe and she saw it as her home, but now it gave her the feeling of danger.
"There's one place I know of." Lychee spoke up from where he flew by Thorn and Cavansite, just behind Cinnabar with Robin and Caterpillar behind them. "In the centre of the hives, there's this weird pit. I've passed it a few times but I've never seen anyone go inside."
"So you just want us to hide in an unknown hole in the ground? With dragonets no less!" Cavansite snapped.
Robin never heard of Cavansite snapping at a HiveWing, even though Lychee was one of his friends, the SilkWing never spoke harshly to the green HiveWing. Up until today apparently.
"It's our only chance!" Lychee insisted as they flew. "There's no other place to hide on Pantala where no HiveWing would go! The hives are even sending patrols once more to the Poison Jungle in search of more food, a place so dangerous no dragons made it out alive."
The warmth of the sun was beating down harshly on their backs, making Robin feel as though her scales would start to melt off. The three moons no longer were blocking the sun, though they had mostly covered it for the whole day yesterday, only settling down early that morning when the sun rose back up. The sky was not a bloody shade of red anymore, it now was back to its regular shade of pale blue with a few fluffy white clouds swirling within the sky, though there were hardly any to be seen.
If the hives are really after us, she thought to herself as they flew. Pushing herself to fly faster. Then we won't have time to get back to the Poison Jungle, not with them looking for us.
The dragonet was pulled out of her thoughts as a buzzing sound filled the air, louder than the soft hum that Lychee's wings gave off.
HiveWings.
The word rang within her mind as though it were the most dangerous thing in the world, and right now for Robin, it felt like it was. The buzzing sound reminded the dragonet of when she was younger, when she first encountered a wasp hive near the edge of the village.
Robin was able to wander around the village on her own now. Shadowsplitter said she was old enough. With enough bargaining and reassurance to Funnel, she was allowed. So today Robin was taking the first chance she got to go out and explore all on her own!
