Chapter 10

The traditional dress came after a few days.

I came out of the changing room in our school and displayed the yukata to everyone. It was emerald coloured with leaf designs on it.

Anna said,

" You look really nice! Atleast you don't have to wear a fancy one!"

Aurora laughed and said,

" Aunty designed Anna's one. But our dear tomboy doesn't like the extravagant style."

Then she put her hand on her chest in a cute goofy style and said,

" I nearly forgot!!"

She turned towards Lilith and Sky and said,

" I nearly forgot to invite you both! We are going to the lantern festival on 28th! Will you both come?"

They both said yes enthusiastically.

Soon it was the morning of the lantern festival.

Everything went on as usual. It was a normal morning. It was just that people were more excited than usual. Anna,Mylene and Sky where carrying large duffle bags.

I asked Anna,

"What are those bags for?"

She scowled at me and said,

"We are going to sleep over at Aurora's house. That's why dummy".

Then I saw Aurora standing at the doorway and beckoning me.

She said,

"I finalised the plans for the dress.Can you come with me to see the designs?"

I looked at her confused and said

"What designs?"

She  laughed and said,

"Cultural festival. Not of the fashion contest of course. For the cafe."

I nodded and followed Aurora down the hallway. We reached a room. It was spacious and beautifully decorated. There were different mannequins. Fabric and threads littered the floor. There were rolls of lace and silky fabric. I saw two people standing around a particular mannequin. They both had white hair. Actually it was more like silvery hair not greyish white like mine. One of them was a girl with waist length hair and another who was a guy with short hair. Their faces were identical. I think they were twins.

The girl turned and smile at us and said,

"There you are the final touches are done. So what do you think?"

They both shifted from the front of the mannequin. On the mannequin was a beautiful but simple dress. It was knee length and ivory white in colour. It had a lace neckline.

I said,

"It's so beautiful. And perfect for our topic too. And the beautiful pearl white colour will really match everyone!"

Next she showed me the boys dress. It was a ink black shirt with ivory white pants. The shirt had a tie, not the formal ones.

She looked at me anxiously. I said,

" It's amazing. I am sure everyone will like it."

We went back to our class as the third hour bell rang.

After school finished, Sky, Anna and Mylene walked with us to the road to my and Aurora's house. At the intersection, Aurora looked at them and said,

" You all go on. I will come after sometime."

We walked towards the bridge where the lantern festival was taking place. Even though it was not time for the actual festival, hundreds of lanterns dotted the scene. It was such a beautiful evening.
