Chapter 54

Back For Good

Natalie froze on the stairs as someone knocked lightly on the door. Then came the voice she impatiently waited for a whole week when she had her rightful memories for the past months. She never tried calling him that first day she got her memory because she knew Chasen would never really wait a month long for her to get back to him. She flew to the door and opened it breathlessly. The handsome, genteel and longing face she had missed made her threw her arms around him. To pull and hugged him tightly and never let him go. She snake her arms around his neck and pushed herself up so she can caressed his startled lips. She crashed hers hungrily to his. The wind blew behind him and all the winter's horrible gushing wind rock them. Chasen kicked the door shut and continued indulging his eager lips. Only one move broke them apart and that was when Natalie humped her right knee on his waist where he was been shot weeks ago.

"Ouch!" he moaned, automatically stopping his response against her hungry lips.

"Oh! I didn't mean to," she muttered,  reaching for his waist. "Is it still aching? I can get you some pain reliever.... Wait." She was about to take a step away from him when Chasen’s protesting hands halted her.

"I'm fine. More than fine. Happy at the moment. Forget my waist, but be gentle with me for a while okay," he chuckled amusedly.

Natalie smile, reached for his face and pulled him closer. "I missed you so much."

"I can see," he laughed. "I miss you too every day."

"So why didn't you come earlier or check on me?" she demanded, almost mad for keeping her waiting.

He sighed patiently at her outrageous face.  "You needed time sweetheart,  so I gave that even if it tortured me to grant what you wanted." He smoothened the frown on her eyebrows. "Seeing you, crying and pleading at me haunted me most. It reminded me of before.... So I have no choice but to give your freedom. I love you but I got to learn how to let go... sometimes. But not totally letting you go... I can give space and time.... But not breaking ties that were already tied and sealed."

"You're becoming corny now," she whispered, smiling, "I totally love it!"

"Glad you love it," he appreciated.

Because she can't get enough of having him finally in her arms, she resumed pulling his head closer to continue their intimate time. This time she was careful not to jump at him again and accidentally hit his waist. She would gladly pressed herself against him, but having wounds hanging around on his waist was an irritating barrier she wanted to wreck.

"You're craving huh?" he sighed when she let go of his lips for two seconds,

"You have no idea," shd replied.

"That suits me very much." He knocked her knees and carried her to the living room where the fireplace was promising warm. The cold temperature of Alaska buried him earlier when he was traveling via snow mobile. Cars couldn't just get through if the snow was two feet high. He put her down on the sofa before shrugging his coat and frozen boots. He sat beside her and pulled her closer that her head was in his chest. "You remembered everything?" he asked.

   "Yes," she replied sadly.

Chasen stared at her when he heard the sadness of her tone. "You don't need to apologize and unearth every unpleasant things, Natalie, things just happen and we get to live whatever it's left for us even if throughout the storm great cost were in our wake."
