Almost Ruined Christmas Eve

Description: Christmas Eve is nearly ruined for y/n and Finn. But the start to Christmas day is perfect.

"Y/n?"

Finn calls out knocking on her door he had been going back to his own hotel room when he heard a few curses and then crying coming from his best friend's room.

"Y/n it's Finn will you please answer I wanna be sure you're okay love."

Waiting a few minutes he steps back hearing the handle turn and when the door opens he sighs wrapping his arms around her.

"Oh, my sweet dear what's wrong why are ya crying?"

Leading her back into her hotel room Finn sits with her on the bed gently rubbing her back and kissing the side of her head.

"I I can't go home, it's Christmas Eve and I'm going to be stuck here spending it at the hotel by myself."

Y/n says crying into Finn's shoulder as she explains that the flight she had was canceled due to the weather. A bunch of their coworkers had gone home the day before but she wasn't able to get a flight out of Colorado till today. But with the snowstorm so close the flight was canceled and she was going to be all alone.

"Awe love I'm sorry about you not able to go home but ya won't be all alone, I'm not goin home because I have a few interviews on the twenty-seventh. No point goin home only to come right back, I'll be goin home for the new year so we can spend today and tomorrow together."

Finn smiles wiping her cheeks and hugging her tightly as he thought about what they could do. He wanted to make today special for her he would do anything to make y/n smile. He loved her more than anything and if there was a way Finn could lift her mood he'd do it.

"You'd really spend it with me? Thank you that means more to me than you know."

Y/n says hugging Finn again and relaxing, it wasn't the same as being home but she was happy she wouldn't be spending Christmas all alone.

"No need to thank me lass it's my pleasure, come on let's get changed and head out for some dinner before the storm gets here."

Finn had a plan for a wonderful dinner and maybe even a sleigh ride to make up for both of them being stuck here.

"Alright meet me back here in say twenty minutes?"

"It's a deal darlin."

Finn kisses her cheek then leaves the room heading back to his own to get ready for the night.

"I can't believe everything is booked or closed."

Finn sighs shaking his head as they walk down the sidewalk trying to find an open fast food place.

"I'm sorry about this y/n."

"Awe Finn you don't have anything to be sorry about look right up there is an open little place let's go see if there is anything in there."

Taking Finn's hand she quickly pulls him with her to get in out of the cold looking over the menu they both agree to get some fries and a large sausage to split. Once they have their food Finn pays and they go back outside to look at the Christmas lights. Walking for a while Finn wraps his arms around himself, it had started snowing and he was freezing. There weren't any cabs available and they were still a ways away from the hotel.

"It's got gotten really cold."

Y/n shivers pulling her coat closer as Finn continued to try and find a quicker way back.

"I'm so sorry y/n."

Finn groans shoving his phone back in his pocket and stopping in the middle of the city park, looking at the giant clock he watches as it hits midnight.

"This has been the worst Christmas Eve ever and what a way to start Christmas freezing in the cold and tired. I wanted this to be perfect to be a good time to make up for the fact you couldn't go home but this whole night has sucked."

Leaning his head back Finn takes a few deep breaths to try and calm himself he couldn't get them back to the hotel if his head wasn't clear. Y/n must seriously be pissed at him since he's the one who dragged her out here. Watching her poor friend struggle Y/n smiles reaching out and stroking Finn's cheek gently giggling at the snowflakes being stuck in his beard. Bring him to look at her y/n searches his face for a moment then pulls him close by the collar and kisses him. The surprised noise he made caused her to hum in amusement as he wraps his arm around her waist pulling her against him. When they finally part Finn smiles looking at the happiness on her face.

"Tonight was perfect Finn, I didn't need a bunch of fancy or over the top things to have a good time. Being here with you and spending time together is plenty enough of a good time for me."

"Seriously? You really enjoyed this all?"

"Yes, I did."

"And the kiss?"

"Cause if you can't realize I like you then I figured this was the only way to get through to you without spelling it out. I enjoyed this time with you and if I had to be spending Christmas with anyone besides my family I'd want it to be you."

"Awe lass."

Finn laughs hugging her and spinning them around a few times before setting her back on her feet.

"You have no idea how happy you've made me this is the best Christmas gift I could have gotten. I really like you too and I promise once we get warm we can talk more about this."

"Sounds good now lets get back to the hotel oh and Ferg? Merry Christmas."
