When I'm with you
Danger seems like a good thingSoyoung let out a small gasp in surprise as her body jerked back- her hands instantly dropping to her side in attempt to hold herself in place at the speed the car was pacing at.
Her eyes fluttered to a close at the flurry of chill air that stroke her face through the partially rolled down window, sending her hair whipping to the side.
Initially, a few cars did tail the Stingray but the very moment he accelerated, the cars behind grew distant and he instantly took the lead in the race.
Soyoung parted her lips in utter shock at the insane speed- adrenaline coursing through body that heated up, pulse palpitating behind her ear as every other sound drained out into the background and all she could evidently make out was the loud thudding of her erratically beating heart.
Soyoung leaned her head back on the seat, amazed to see how the surrounding passed by them at the speed of a light- too fast for her to even comprehend the scenery around.
And even before she could bring herself back to her senses the first lap had already been accomplished and the car had soon progressed into the second.
Soyoung slowly exhaled out, "You're fast- like fast fast" She muttered out, her voice a mere whisper as she drifted her attention over to him.
Soyoung glanced at the side view mirror and her brows furrowed noticing how the cars behind gradually began pulling over, disappearing into thin air and it felt as though they were the only ones taking part in the race- not a single car was at their vicinity.
"What's.. going on?" Soyoung asked in bafflement, gulping down the oddly unsettling feeling at the back of her throat.
Mark hastily eyed the rear-view mirror and his brow slightly raised but was quick to decipher the situation.
Soyoung noticed the change in his expression- the way his shoulder tensed and his grasp on the steering wheel stiffened, clenching it so tight that his knuckles that peeked beneath the fringe of the glovette turned pale.
"Police patrol, right?" Soyoung asked, awaiting his confirmation and he remained silent.
Soon the car began slowing down and Soyoung narrowed her eyes down on him, "Aren't you going to pull over?" She asked and got no response from him, instead a question that caught her off guard.
"Do you have a taste for chases?" He asked with the grin drawing back on his face and she scoffed out in disbelief, "What- are you insane?!" She uttered out, glimpsing at the black-and-white colored car which she recognized as a police patrol car, now entering their sight.
"Do you?" He repeated himself, his composed tone infuriating her further and she groaned out, "No, no I don't. How the fuck are you so calm?!" She hissed out, her anxiety growing tremendously as every second slipped by.
Mark glanced at her, letting out a raspy chuckle at her conduct, "Youn, look" His voice deep and stern making her purse her lips.
Youn.
Mark raised his hand, his slender finger resting right under her chin making her look up at him- his black eyes glancing in between the honey brown swirls of hers as he inched closer.
Soyoung had to mentally remind herself to not glance down at his red stained lips- his warm breath fanning her face sending her heart lurching in her chest.
"Do you trust me?" Soyoung's lips parted, a short and sharp breath slipping out and something in her compelled to reply him with a 'yes' but her mind began clouding with numerous thoughts and all she could give in response was a nod.
Mark's eyes flickered over her face, a smug smile plastered on his own before he pulled away- turning to face his front with ready hands on the steering.
Soyoung gave the mirror a glance and sucked in air, catching her breath still seeing the patrol car near them, too close.
"How bad do you want it?"
"What?!"And even before his words dawned on her, in a swift motion of his hand, he changed the gears, feet lowering further onto the accelerator and the car propelled forward.
The delay was just a mere second- both the patrol car slowing down and the Corvette pacing up occurred at the same time and Soyoung felt like a she was in a movie scene re-enactment.
The loud sirens blared through the void street hot on the heels of the red car and Soyoung rolled the window up to a close- the sound fading into the surround.
Mark promptly twisted the steering wheel and the car took an acute right turn sending the two incline to their left and his smile grew wider upon watching the patrol car fall back.
"What the hell" Was all she could utter out and her breath caught up in her dry throat, mouth not forming any coherent words, feeling light-headed.
A subsequent left and right turn and they advanced into the open highway roads- the police car that hunt them all along loosing track of them within an instant.
Soyoung rolled down her window, peeking out to see nothing but darkness at the rear and she turned to face Mark, "We lost them" She let out in a voice coaxed with amusement and relief.
"Holy shit, I can't believe this" She uttered under her breath, the corner of her lips curling into a smile, astonished.
"That.. that was absolutely insane" She remarked, breaking out into a wide smile- her soft dimples forming crescent moons on her soft cheeks.
Mark casted a brief look at the girl, a laugh escaping his mouth at her reaction before drifting his attention to his front as he paced the car at a decent speed.
"Mark.. why ask for me?" She began, remembering the conversation she held with Hendery at the party hall.
"Cause I wanted to give my newbie the best experience"
Soyoung kept her eyes ahead, a hue of red staining her cheeks at those words and though she didn't spare him a look, she knew the very-familiar teasing smirk of his was back on his lips again.
