In 1975, Kylea James, moved to the projects of Boston with her mother. She has a gift of singing and dancing, but doesn't think she has the skills. She meets five boys who she became very close friends with.

Her mother enters her in a talent show, the start of her career, growing up and rising to fame, falling in love with her best friend and New Edition's Bobby Brown.

Follow the rise of the Queen of R&B and the love between her and the King of R&B.
