As high as the Halo

Stood six feet tall in pain.
Stood as tall as our fright.
Stood with pride in our pain and want as well as our need.

We used to have it all.
We used to know it all.
We used to give it all.
We tried to be it all.
And we were.

Stand six feet and sad.
Stand as tall and quiver.
Break and rebuild and lose and gain.
Because we are back to our nothingness.
As raw as the day we smelt the bittersweet thing called air.

Now we're back
As high as the halo
Right there on the top of the tree
Because we lost our footing but kept our balance.
We broke our backs but our spines remain.

Forever on top after the pain
Because we are as high as the halo
Because our pain made us
Because our strength is renewed
As high as the halo
Never looking back.
