Kevin walked the extravagant halls of the building. Everything was made of fine polished marble. There were chandeliers hanging overhead. Beautiful gold and silver designs were inlaid in the floor, ceiling, and walls.
He walked past a pillar, and ran his hands against the fine engravings in it. He was... in a fancy hotel. Wait.... why was he here? He couldn't... he couldn't remember.
Kevin was lost. Oh no! His family had lost track of him. They were here in the city for something... and he'd gotten separated somehow.
"Ah, there you are my dear."
Kevin turned around to find a woman in a fancy, professional outfit, with a lot of makeup.
"What?" Kevin said, "what do you want?"
"Why," the woman said, "you're our girl, are you not?"
"I'm not a girl," Kevin said.
"Of course you're not," the woman said, "that's why I'm here."
The woman grabbed his wrist and began pulling him along, first down a hallway, and then into a side room.
When he came in, he found that there was a sink and a mirror, and a rack of clothes.
"Put this on," the woman instructed, holding up a periwinkle blue dress.
Kevin nervously went behind a screen, and changed into it. He came out from behind, and the woman smiled eagerly.
"Oh dear," the woman said, "you look positively adorable!"
Kevin lit up at the compliment, smiling.
"Sit," the woman gestured to the chair in front of the vanity.
Kevin sat down in the chair, and the woman proceeded to put product in his hair, and style it. Kevin's hair was normally a normal guy's length, but the woman lengthened it to look more like a girl's.
Kelsy looked so beautiful. She basked in the feeling of the moment, looking at her reflection in the mirror.
The woman picked up another bottle of something. But when Kelsy looked at the label...
There was nothing there.
No writing, nothing.
This was a dream.
Kevin looked around, feeling the fuzziness of the dream more acutely.
"Is something wrong dear?" the woman asked.
"No... no," Kevin answered.
The woman resumed brushing his hair - his long hair, now flowing down his back. Looking in the mirror, Kevin did not see himself wearing a dress - it was a softer, feminine version of himself. No facial hair, a rounder jaw.
And on his chest were two visible lumps.
Kevin was sure his stomach felt twisted - but he couldn't really sense his stomach at the moment. He was dreaming that he was a girl. He had done it now. He had swan dived back into his old habits, and now he was dreaming... of this.
Kevin examined himself in the mirror. He... she, the fake version of him, really did look beautiful. There was a giddy, happy look in that girl's eyes - which was strange, because he was internally frowning.
That girl was not him. It was an illusion. It was a manifestation of a subconscious desire.
Kevin paused.
A desire for what?
He was sure it was his fetish. What else could it be?
A whisper of an answer came in the back of his mind. He anxiously pushed it back, and pushed it deep.
No. In all the years he'd had this problem, he'd never gone down that road, and he sure as heck wasn't going to now.
"There dear," the woman said, "you're done. They should be expecting you onstage."
"On....stage?" Kevin said timidly.
"Yes," the woman smiled, "good luck."
Kevin left the room, and began to walk around the hotel again. He happened upon a large auditorium, filled to the brim with people. Somehow, he picked out many he knew - family, friends, and others.
There was a projector screen pulled down behind the stage, and projected on it was a big picture of Kelsy's face.
As Kevin opened the door into the auditorium, everyone suddenly turned their gaze on him.
Uh uh. There was no way he was staying in here, let alone getting on that stage.
He made a run for it. He struggled to find his way through the hotel, but he couldn't. There was no logic to it, no permanence. He looked behind him, and saw to his fright a gigantic angry mob coming after him.
Then, he tripped on the ground. On his hands and knees, he looked at his arms. They were no longer soft and moisturized, but rough, and covered with hair.
He got up, saw a mirror on the wall, and in his reflection, saw...
Saw...
A man in a dress.
And then he woke up.
