COAST CITY
April 10th; 14:23 PDTMarie punched the bag once again with all her might over and over again, sweat dripped down her pale face in beads. Annabelle held the bag, trying to keep it in place as Marie beats into it. Annabelle struggling herself from being thrown back. Annabelle glanced to the floor where Wally laid trying to recover from when he was holding the punching bag for Marie. Who was just straight-up ranting all about her slight argument with Dick to them?
"I'm just so scared, you know?" Marie paused for a moment as she looks at the two before she begins to lessen the break between her punches. "I just don't want the same thing that happened with Rydel and Hal to happen to me and Dick. They always fighting, they always questioning the other, the lack of trust they had for one of another, it was the same with Carol." Marie told them. "And I have no doubt that when he comes back history is going to repeat itself, him and Carol are going to break up, he's going to go back to League, he and Phoenix are going to fall back in love, then goes to space, and then he comes back, and then the cycle continues. I don't want that."
"Mar, Hal and his revolving door of love interests is not because they fight, it's because your dad is always gone." Annabelle rolls her eyes, but soon lets out a short grunt, as Marie hits the bag a little harder. "Remember six years ago when I said that you even you could take Superboy down, I change that to, you could wipe the floor with him, no question asked."
Marie ignores Annabelle's attempt at a joke and hits the bag once again causing Annabelle to let out a groan. "Don't get me started on Hal being gone! Oh, and him leaving Alya when right after I had to leave! He wasn't supposed to go when I was gone. Who does that! And I couldn't just agree with Alya when she was hating him, what kind of daughter would I be?"
"A hurt one?" Wally interjected as he pushed him up. "And are you just going to switch topics? Because if we're done talking about Dick and moving onto your father, telling you my opinions just got a whole lot easier. As being both yours and Dick's best friend didn't allow me much to say."
"I just don't understand how our mentors did it!" Marie spoke as she shortens the time between punches. "Having a child's life, their outcome is solely based on what you teach them, and what they pick up from you. Alya's great! From what she been through and how she was raised, she's doing better than most would have in her situation without her real mentor."
"You are her real mentor," Annabelle told her.
"No, Hal is." Marie shook her head. "I'm guessing the substitute teacher she got stuck with, who has no clue what the hell is going on. And it's not just her, that I should be worried about, it's the other five of them as well. I can't just have you and Phoenix do the brunt of the work with them, and then share Alya with the team."
"I mean I'm not doing much." Annabelle shrugs. "I just watch them from afar and teach them chemistry. It's Phoenix that doing a lot for James though. That kid got skills."
"Oh, Phoenix's been a pain in my ass with that." Marie groaned as she stopped throwing her head back. "She just can't keep her mouth shut, she tells that boy everything, and then he tells Alya. Does she not know the meaning of classified?"
"Wasn't that kid supposed to join the Team?" Wally questioned, looking over at Marie.
"He was, but every time we decide a date for him to join, he changes his mind." Marie pulls her boxing gloves off her hands with a sigh. "I don't know guys everything is just piling up, and I don't know if I can keep it all in."
"Then don't," Wally tells her. "Just tell us, everything. We know more about you than anyone in the world, well not including Dick, but after that, no one knows more than us. So tell us what you have been dying to tell someone, but at the same time hasn't even crossed your mind to tell someone."
