Spirit stood beside Nightwing as he was decrypting the files that Ms. Martian and Manhunter had gotten from Malina Island a couple of months ago before it blew up. Spirit was asking Nightwing for his advice on how to she goes about talking to Alya outside of being a hero. Jessica had really brought that to her eyes that she really only talked to Alya about the team and being Spark, though Jessica didn't know this, she still brought to the front her mind.
"Decryption completed." The computer spoke, just as Beast Boy and Robin walked up to the two senior members. "Translation completed."
"Is that the Krolotean intel?" Robin asked them. Spirit looked up from the floor and at the two younger boys.
"What Krolotean intel?" Garfield questioned.
"The data files M'gann and J'onn recovered on Malina Island before it was destroyed," Nightwing answered, as he continued to work.
"Ah. Noted."
"Apparently, the Kroloteans were snatching humans to use as guinea pigs," Nightwing informed them. "They were hoping to find something. Something inside us."
Spirit made a face, "Not creepy nor scary at all..."
"What?" Robin asked.
"There's no English word for it," Nightwing told him, as he looks over the files. "The nearest translation is Meta-Gene."
"What's a Meta-Gene?" Robin asked the question that was on everyone's minds.
Garfield nudged Robin in the side with a grin. "Never met a Gene I didn't like."
Spirit lets out a short laugh before the computer spoke a warning. "Warning unknown energy impulse detected."
The four heroes looked around on alert as the holo computer shuts off, and the alarms blared. Thunder was heard and then electricity began to form in a ball shape from behind them. The four of them quickly turn around, Spirit grabs her staff from her back, getting into a battle stance.
"Oh, if I didn't know any better. I would think that Al finally got a sense of humor and was playing a prank on us." Spirit spoke quickly, as Nightwing holds out his arm signaling for the two younger team members to stand behind them as the electricity began to crack more, and then a weird pod looking thing appears and crashes to the floor. The doors then made a sound as if it was going to open.
Nightwing and Robin pull out their weapons, and Garfeid gets into a battle stance, as Nightwing orders the three of them to "Stand Ready."
The pod's doors open, and a teenager in a white and red suit jumps out shouting. "Ta-da!"
Spirit lowers her staff, and furrows her eyebrows in confusion. "Ta-da?"
"Intruder Alert. Intruder Alert." The computer informed them.
"Computer lockdown," Nightwing ordered.
"Well, I think we found our unknown energy impulse," Garfield said looking at Nightwing.
"I think that you're right." Spirit nods.
"Impulse? That's so crash." The intruder smiles. "Catchy. Dramatic. One word." The boy then speeds next to Nightwing, causing Spirit's eyes to widen. "Like Nightwing." He then goes next to Spirit, "and Spirit." The teenager does the same to Robin and Beast Boy. "And Robin and Beast Boy. Except that's two words. Blue Beetle's two words. Hey, is he here too?" The boy then speeds off to the hallway away from them, causing Spirit's mind to just spin in confusion. "Nevermind. Impulse can find that out for himself." Impulse just speeds off in the cave with a laugh.
