April.
"Christian are you going to tell me now?" I asked, panting heavily. After I'd throw up my body had no power to walk. Still, Christian had made me run all the way from the cafeteria through the school grounds to the parking lot.
"Get in the car." He said totally ignoring me and my question as he opened the car door for me.
I hopped in the car and threw my bag in the back seat. He got in too and slammed the door shut. Without wasting any time he started to rev up the engine.
"Is anyone around the house?" I was just about to heave a sigh I heard him speaking sharply.
"Good. We're on our way." He cut the phone and pushed it inside the pocket of his jeans.
With a jerk he turned the car around and sped it towards the road.
I was still catching up my breath when I noticed the town getting ready for Christmas. My stomach felt weird and I my heart sank a little. Pushing away last year's memories from my head, I looked at Christian.
His clenched jaw didn't say he was fine.
"Christian." I quietly said. "Can you please tell me what the hell is going on?"
His eyes quickly turned to me once before settling on the road again. "Alright. Don't panic."
"Yeah." I nodded. "You know when someone says don't panic the situation is obviously severe so how can one not panic when told-"
"Hazel!"
"Sorry." I shifted a little towards the window.
"My dad," his eyes met mine. "wants you".
"What?" My eyebrows joined.
"He suspects that you might be Jonathan Grey's daughter, which you are." He sighed.
"Oh my god. Is it because he thinks my dad killed your mother?" I blurted out in one go. What did I just say?
"Sorry." I looked away from him to out the window.
"It's okay. He isn't sure about your dad either, but he is the only suspect." He tightly said without looking at me.
It felt awkward to hear that about my dad who I haven't even met. If my dad was really a bad guy, why did my mother marry him?
"Your father," Christian talked again making me look at him. "Was there at the crime scene. Where my mother was-" he stopped. I realized how he must be feeling and kept my hand over his slowly and gave it a little squeeze.
His eyes fell on my hand and he slightly smiled. So cute I slapped myself mentally. Not the right time April!
"Where my mother was murdered." He completed.
"I'm really so sorry about your mother Christian." I said rubbing his arm. He gave me a nod.
"But isn't this a small town and your father might just find me easily?" I said casually and he tensed. Oh god I should just keep my mouth shut from now on.
"Yeah, but don't worry. I'll handle him." He pulled in the driveway and I jumped out only to shudder because of the chilled air and hopped back into the car.
"What's wrong?" Christian came to my side. "Where is your jacket?"
"I kind of forgot it in the cafeteria." I slowly said, looking down like a kid. "I'm sorry."
