"So...this is awkward," Kailee said, shifting around awkwardly on her feet.
"Well, I would like to talk to you, so go ahead and sit on the couch. I'll get us some water," she offered, walking off into the kitchen.
Mary came back a few moments later and sat across from the female shifter. "I assume your predicament is why you came back to life?" Mary guessed curiously.
"Honestly, I don't think so. I was in the middle of life and death, but my being a werewolf doesn't have anything to do with it, I don't think," Kailee answered truthfully.
"Does John, Nick, or Chris know?" Mary asked.
"Yes, actually. Lacey, Chris's girlfriend, knows, too. Just found out about an hour ago." Kailee laughed.
"So, why exactly are you in Indiana?" Mary asked her.
"I was taking a run to blow of some excess energy, but I seemed to have gotten carried away. I heard a scream and decided to follow it, and only realized where I was when I saw the sign on your door." Kailee blushed, embarrassed by her careless actions.
Mary laughed and smiled kindly at her. "You know, you scared the crap out of me back there."
"Whoops?" The female shrugged jokingly with a smirk.
"I would love for you to stay, but I'm almost positive your family is beginning to get worried by now." Mary smiled.
"I guess." Kailee smiled kindly back.
Kailee stood up and sat her water on the coffee table. "It was wonderful knowing you, but it's best if I take my leave," Kailee told her.
"One more question?" She asked.
"Shoot!" Kailee said, knowing there was no harm in the suggestion.
"Why are you staying with my son and nephew?" Mary asked her curiously.
Kailee smiled at the woman, the action slightly broken. "Vampires want to kill me, and they...they're protecting me. They're my family."
Kailee jumped out of the broken window, shifting to her wolf form and running back towards Nick's house, her home.
