Nick had a werewolf in his bedroom, vampires are after her, and everything he's ever believed in has imploded.

It's like Twilight, only backwards! He hadn't even believed those kind of things existed until then.

'Maybe this is a dream,' Nick thought, pinching himself. Nothing changed and Nick sighed. 'Yep, this is real life!'

Kailee came out moments later, fully dressed, and Nick was confused. She didn't have any clothes with her before.

She saw his confused face and laughed. "Being a werewolf comes with more powers than just shifting into a huge wolf." She smirked at him.

"You seem to be pretty comfortable around me, and you did just meet me. How do you know I won't turn you in?" He asked, although he would never do that to her.

She laughed at him. "For some odd reason, my wolf instincts are telling me your my son. I guess it's kind of like a protective stream. Freaky, right?"

'Woah! Wait on minute!' "Are you serious?!"

"Yep!" She laughed.

"I haven't had a mom in five years," he said sadly.

"My whole family was killed by those stupid vampires." She scowled. Nick smiled sympathetically.

Suddenly, a knock sounded on the door. "Nick? Who are you talking to?" He asked from the other side of the door.

"My dad!" He whisper-yelled to Kailee in panic. Eyes flicking to the door, he yelled back, "No one!"

"I'm coming in, Nicholas!" He barked.

"Go hide!" Nick pushed her into his closet. "Go all the way to the back, and don't come out until I say!" He instructed.

She nodded and shuffled her way to the back of his closet. Nick closed the closet door and sat on his bed, waiting for his father to barge in.

The door swung open. "Nick! Who were you talking to?" He asked his son sternly.

"An app?" Nick lied, but it came out like a question. He was a terrible liar.

"Nicholas Jordan Smith! Who do you have in this bedroom? I will not repeat myself again!" His voice boomed through the house.

Nick caught hearing of a deep throaty growl coming from his closet. 'Why is she growling?' Nick wondered. 'There's nothing to...growl...at...oh, no! She thinks my dad is threatening me...and with her instincts...!'

Nick's dad looked curiously to his closet. "Did you bring a dog in here?" He asked.

Nick quickly shook his head. His dad started for the closet door despite his son's protests.

"Dad, I don't think you want to go in there!" Nick warned him, but he didn't stop. "Dad, you're going to get hurt!"

His father opened the closet door and something tackled him.

Kailee heard Nick's dad yelling at him and got a bit angry. Part of her knew that getting mad was irrational and that his dad wasn't actually hurting him, but her instincts said otherwise.

She growled lowly, 'He better not be hurting him!'

Kailee heard footsteps approach the closet door and fought to keep calm. She heard Nick warning his dad, but his dad obviously wasn't listening.

Light came streaming through once the door was opened, and Kailee took her new opening, growling and leaping at him, sending him to the wall as she had him pinned by the neck.

He struggled against her arm, trying to pry the female off, but she held him tightly.

"No one hurts Nick!" She growled at him. His face was written with pure shock and some fear as he struggled.

"Kailee, drop him," Nick told her. Kailee didn't want to give Nick conflicted feelings, so she let his dad drop to the ground.

The man gasped for air. Kailee backed up to stand by Nick.

"What is going on here?" He asked, rubbing his sore neck. "Who are you, and why are you in my son's room?"

"Dad, uh, how do I say this? We are living in Twilight, apparently." Nick laughed sheepishly.

"Nick, why are you talking about that fantasy movie?" Nick's dad asked him.

Kailee growled quietly as Nick and his dad snapped their heads towards her.

"What?" She asked.

"All you've done is growl. I'm surprised you even talk." Nick's dad raised his eyebrows.

Kailee snapped, lunging for the man, but Nick blocked her, throwing her off course as she tumbled onto him instead.

The werewolf quickly got off of him and checked for injuries. "Are you okay?! I'm so sorry!"

"It's okay, Kailee, I'm just a bit dizzy," Nick reassured her, standing up.

Nick's father narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "You have quite the attitude there, Kailee."

She glared at him daringly. "That I do."

"Okay, so as I was saying." Nick snapped to get both of them to focus on him. "I am talking about Twilight because vampires are chasing Kailee, and Kailee is, well, a werewolf," Nick confessed.

Nick's dad started to laugh. "Good one, but seriously, son."

"Oh?" Kailee hissed. "So you think this is funny? My family was killed by vampires, old man, and your son here was kind enough to take me in, yet here you are, laughing about the situation. I've had enough!" She snarled at the end and shifted.

Nick's dad gasped. She growled and stalked toward Nick's dad as the adult was backed up to the wall.

Nick stepped in front of the werewolf despite her large size and threatening demeanor. "Kailee, back down, please. He didn't know."

Kailee huffed in frustration, but did as told. She wasn't about to fight Nick on this one.

Backing up, the werewolf shifted back to her human form, plopping herself on Nick's bedside. "So, let's talk about why I'm here."

Nick's dad got up and looked at her before nodding in agreement. "I'd be happy to know, too."
