Nick got up and remembered the field trip. Excitement enveloped him, and the boy quickly got ready for school.

He was dressed and ready to go by 6:30, but both Kailee and he had to leave in an hour, and Kailee hadn't even gotten up yet. Plus, Nick was pretty sure girls took a long time to get ready.

He got up and started to bounce on the bed. Kailee groaned and flopped onto her stomach. "You gotta get up!" He yelled. Luckily, his dad was already at work. "Come on, mom!"

She shot right up. "You just called me mom!" Kailee smiled in excitement.

"I did?" Nick asked.

"You did!" She smiled.

Nick shook the feelings that gave him off. "Get ready!" He yelled.

She looked at the clock. "Uh, we have an hour," she told him.

"But girls take forever with make up and that stuff," he pointed out.

"But I'm not a girl. I'm a tomboy." She smiled mischievously before running into the bathroom.

In about ten minutes, she came out with a tee and jeans on. The shirt, ironically enough, had a wolf on it.

They walked to the door and slipped their shoes on. Kailee slipped on her now washed blue and green tennis shoes while Nick slipped on his black tennis shoes.

The drive to school was sat in comfortable silence.

They got out of his dad's car that he let them borrow, his father taking a cab to town. Both of them walked into the school and into Nick's classroom.

"Okay, class. Each of you will be put in a group with a chaperon," Nick's teacher announced.

Nick's group consisted of four girls and three boys, including Kailee and I. Sadly, Nick's bully, Michael, was in their group. Nick silently hoped that Kailee would help him out with Michael.

Everyone filed onto the buses. Nick's group was the last to leave the classroom. "Hey, is Nicky's little step mommy here to babysit him? Is he a mama's boy?" Micheal teased. "And her mom looks like a slut, way too young to be a mom." He sneered.

Nick heard a low growl. Luckily, it was just his group right now. Everyone looked at Kailee, and she had her fists clenched, face red with anger. "Don't tease my son! He doesn't need some kid picking on him because he's jealous!" Kailee glared at Michael.

"What you gonna do about it?" He mocked her.

By now, his whole group watched the scene go down. "You know, it's not nice to attack a kid, but you also must respect your elders. So, since you broke a rule, I'm going to, too." As she said this, she pinned him against a wall, hand wrapped around his neck.

She spoke with a deep demonic voice. "No one, and I mean no one, teases or lays a hand on Nick! I may not be his real mom or even dating his dad, but that doesn't mean I don't care about him. Unlike you, I have a heart." She dropped him to the ground. "Let's get to the buses," she said calmly.

The whole class listened instantly, not wanting to have an encounter with Kailee's anger just as Michael had.

Hope you liked it! I'm a very violent person, but I would never hurt a kid in my life! Promise!
