'Where am I? All I see is green field for miles. I thought I was in the woods?'

Kailee saw a woman coming towards her, and when she realized who it was, she began to cry. "Mom?!" She hugged her as her mother hugged her back.

"Hi, sweetie!" She smiled.

"I thought you were dead," Kailee cried.

"I am." She smiled sadly at her daughter.

Kailee pulled away and look at her. "So, I'm dead?"

"No, you are in the middle of life and death. You aren't dead, but your heart and pulse stopped. Do you know what's happening on earth right now?" She asked.

"No," Kailee admitted

"It's your funeral right now. Your body is in a casket. You have to go back. Defeat the vampires. Protect Nick and his family, your new family." Kailee's mom teared up at her own words.

"They may be my new family, but you will always be my first," Kailee told her.

She smiled. "Remember, Kailee, these people care." She waved a sad goodbye, and then there was a flash of light.

Kailee blinked herself awake and looked around, only to realize she was stuck in a box. Or a casket. A funeral casket.

She heard the muffled voice of John and realized that he must be giving a speech. 'Time to ruin that speech,' Kailee thought. 'How depressing.'

The female pressed on the lid and started to kick around, making a lot of noise in the process. She shoved with all her strength, and the lid accidentally flew off and across the room. 'Whoops.' Kailee grimaced.

She sat up and looked at everyone who had attended the funeral. They all looked shocked, scared, and confused.

Kailee smiled and waved, realizing this must be Nick and John's family along with John's old wife's family, as well.

She leapt from the casket and landed on the floor of the stage, a few meters from John as he stared at her. She teared up and ran into his arms, hugging him. She whispered into his ear, "This is real, and I'm alive. You can't take me down that easy." She pulled away to look at him.

He had happy tears going down his face. Suddenly, Kailee felt like she'd been tackled from the side. Looking down, the werewolf caught view of Nick hugging her waist with all his might.

She laughed and hugged him back tightly. She stood and helped Nick up, too. Everyone was staring at her. "Hey! It's not nice to stare at the dead! But I guess you can because apparently...I'm not dead!" Kailee exclaimed.

She walked off stage and glanced at Chris. He looked at her and smiled. He had a black-haired girl beside him that was practically clinging to him. "You have a girlfriend? Would've never guessed?" She smirked at him.

He stood up and looked her over. "Still the same Kailee. I guess being dead didn't change you much. Too bad," he said, smiling slowly all through his speech.

"Awe! But you wouldn't want me any other way!" She grinned cheekily.

He shook his head at her antics. "Oddly, that is very much true." Immediately, he enveloped her in a friendly hug.

"So," she said, pulling away, "since I'm not dead, I would like to go home because rising from the dead makes one very tired." She yawned for emphasis and skipped off.

"Uh...I guess she wasn't dead. Well, this is awkward." John was still on stage as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Uh...FUNERAL OVER!" Nick screamed and ran after Kailee.

"What just happened?" Lacey, Chris's girlfriend, asked him.

"My best friend that was my cousin's mom/adopted sister just came back to life after being dead and was not at all fazed," he told Lacey with a nonchalant smile.

"Should we be worried?" Lacey asked him.

"Actually, it doesn't surprise me. I would be more worried if it had fazed her, honestly," Chris replied.

"Why?" Lacey asked her boyfriend, eyes wide.

"Well, you may find out since you're coming back to John's house with me for a month." He smiled at her.

'Kailee's going to maul me,' Chris thought.

Ohhhh! Lacey is staying in the same house as Kailee. Will her secret be revealed? Will Lacey get along with Kailee? Bye my doggies!
