Nicki sighed as she closed the door to her bedroom and walked straight to the en suite. She walked over to the mirror and just looked at herself as she tied her hair up into a bun. Once satisfied that it wouldn't come down she headed over to the shower and switched it on, allowing it to get to the right temperature as she disrobed and placed her clothes in the hamper.

Stepping into the shower she allowed herself to completely relax into the warm stream of water as it relaxed her very tense muscles. It had been a long week. Between finishing her album and all the meetings for the tour, her docuseries and new collaboration with Fendi, she was swamped. And to top it all off she would come home every evening to a house full of her husband's friends as they gathered to pass time. Initially it was something she could deal with, but as of recently, it was all just a bit much.

Maybe I do need a break. She thought to herself as she used her sponge to lather herself with the Dior shower gel. It had been a while since she had really had a getaway where she focussed primarily on recalibrating herself and one was definitely long overdue. She knew it would spark up an argument that she didn't really have the energy for, but at the end of the day, he was living under her roof and clothed in her money therefore had no right to dictate what she could and couldn't do...

She got settled into her covers after dressing in an oversized t-shirt and panties. She picked up her phone and searched through for his number and clicked on it, displaying his contact profile on her phone. She smiled at the picture of her sitting on his lap with her arms around his neck, whilst his rested around her waist. Chubbs had encouraged them to take it at Noah's birthday party a couple of years back. He had told them both it was the happiest he'd seen either of them, and looking back on it, Nicki had to agree with him. At that point in her life everything had made sense and how she had driven herself away from him once again she didn't quite understand but now she had no choice but to accept it.

She clicked on the message icon which led her to the screen that allowed her to type and send her message.

You free? -Mami

Her heart sped up a little as she watched the three grey dots appear almost instantly, followed by his response.

Yh. What's up? -Papi

She took that as her go ahead and this time clicked the video icon and watched nervously as the phone rang. He picked up a few rings later and she just smiled as his face appeared on her screen.

"Hey baby," He said to her in the deep baritone that never failed to make her heart skip a beat. "What makes you call?" he asked with a smile and she just bit her lip.

"I wanted to hear your voice," she finally said back after a moment of just admiring him. "And see your face, it's been a while,"

"It has. What's been keeping you so busy that you don't have time for the boy no more?" He asked her and she just chuckled.

"You of all people know how it is. You get roped in so quickly that you just lose track of everything else," she said with a sigh and he nodded. "It's draining,"

"I know mama, but from what I can hear that's the real reason you called me," he said as he walked into his own bedroom and closed the door behind him. "You wanna go somewhere?" he asked her and she nodded.

"I need to Aubrey. I'm losing sanity constantly being in the loop of work and nothing else. I'm tired and I can't focus," she explained.

"Why don't you wanna go alone this time?" he asked her, knowing she occasionally went on lone vacations to calibrate, but the fact that she had called him to discuss it told him she wanted him to go with her.
