Drake stood by the beach taking in the heat of the African sun. He watched with an unlit blunt in hand as the blue sea met the white sand at a place that looked and felt like paradise. He inhaled a deep breath of the fresh air and lifted his blunt to his lips, ready to light it when his peace was disturbed. The voice was distant but got closer with every passing moment, and the distress in her tone only encouraged him to listen closer to a conversation that didn't concern him at all.
"You knew what this was when I asked you if you'd be ok with me going," he heard her say.
He looked over in the direction that the voice came from and was instantly distracted by what he had to award as rear of the year. He didn't stand a chance, especially as his eyes scanned up her body, taking the soft caramel skin of her back and the fine line of a tattoo that traced her spine. One manicured hand held onto the bottoms of her dress, stopping it from trailing on the ground, whilst the other held her phone to her ear.
"I don't want to argue about it... This has nothing to do with them, if you feel a way about how I went out last night take that up with me," she spoke back into the phone.
He only had half a conversation but from the parts he could hear, he knew it didn't take a genius to know she was at odds with her other half.
"Excuse me?" she said, raising her voice a little and clearly pulling a face that he couldn't see. "I don't answer to anybody and I certainly don't ask for permission so if you think-" She was cut short and again with only half a conversation he knew whoever was on the other end had just hung up. He watched her, listening as she took a deep breath before dialing the number again only to be met with a voicemail. She called twice more before she finally gave up, releasing her dress and placing her hands in her hair, gently pulling as a way to momentarily release her anger.
When she finally turned around, she didn't expect to see him standing there and it definitely startled her a little. He on the other hand was completely taken aback by her beauty.
"Gosh you scared me," she said and he gave a small smile, watching as she quickly looked him up and down realizing he was alone and clearly enjoying the peace. "I'm sorry if you heard all that, I thought I was alone," she said
"No harm done," he said softly. "Sounded pretty intense though,"
She sighed. "Yeah, that's what I get for being the only one in a relationship on the girls trip. Rookie mistake," she said, looking out at the blue water.
"Looks like you could use that joint you got stored away for later," he said after noticing the neatly rolled joint tucked behind her ear. She chuckled, still not looking at him as he reached into his pocket and took out his lighter. "Here,"
Tearing her gaze away from the views before her she looked at the lighter in his hand, eventually reaching out for it, agreeing that he was right. A moment of silence took over them and she allowed it to as she sunk back into her thoughts of how she'd fix the mess she'd now gotten herself into.
"He doesn't deserve you," he said looking over at her again, taking in her side profile as she exhaled the smoke.
"And what makes you think that," she said with a smile creeping onto her face.
"He doesn't even let you explain yourself," he said, taking a seat on one of the rocks nearby. "From what I can gather he's pressed about things you definitely cannot control." He paused to lick his lips as he looked her up and down and it didn't go unnoticed by her as his eyes caught hers causing her to blush. "And he doesn't even give you the chance to set the record straight. From that alone, I know he doesn't,"
He was right and she knew it, but she wouldn't give him the satisfaction of knowing that. Not yet anyway. As for now she didn't know this man from anyone else and she knew he was just another reason for her to get in trouble. "You here alone?" She asked him
