"You ready?" her husband asked her as she walked into the room after having finished styling her hair in the en suite of their bedroom. She gave him a nod and placed her phone and passport into the birkin bag that she'd be taking with her.
"Are you sure about this?" she asked him for what may have been the 4th or 5th time since he had suggested the idea to her. It was what needed to happen, but she knew the dangers that would be involved if things didn't go as they envisioned.
"As sure as I need to be," he gave back as he zipped her bag close after having finished packing for her. "I wouldn't send you on this trip if I wasn't sure." He stood and walked over to where she stood. "Rashad will meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel. He'll drive you to and from meetings and be on standby when you need him," he explained and she smiled, knowing he had made sure her favourite bodyguard would be her escort for the next couple of days. "You'll meet with Drake tomorrow evening to discuss the plan of action and by Wednesday afternoon the account should be open ready for you to come back Wednesday evening,"
She nodded slowly and thought for a moment back to the dinner party they had hosted a few weeks back when the idea was first put on the table by another one of their associates. "Which one is Drake again?" she asked, unable to pinpoint the face being that her role that night had been to woo a potential investor - which she had been more than successful at.
"You'll see him when you get there. He doesn't take pictures so I can't show you, but you'll recognise him straight away," he said and placed a kiss on her temple. "You know the rules, play by them Onika." he said sternly and she just gazed into his eyes. "He's not afraid to get blood on his hands and neither am I." He picked up her hand from her side and placed a kiss on it.
That was all he had to say for her to know that this one was off limits. She didn't expect any different. He had always told her to stay clear of people that they were doing business with and this was the type of business that could send them both to places they would never come back from. If done incorrectly the system would have all they needed to send them both away for the crimes they couldn't prove. They had done well keeping their hands clean under the guise of her husband's tech companies, but when you're making more than you can account for it was easy to be an open target for the feds.
"Let's go," he said and picked up her suitcase, carrying it down the spiral staircase of their home and putting it in the car...

As always her journey was refreshing and everything flowed as it should. She arrived at her hotel little after 8pm and she didn't hesitate to run herself a bath and relax for the rest of the evening, knowing she'd more than likely have a tense few days. She didn't mind running these types of errands for her husband but she also knew that they weren't the type of thing she could get wrong. For the most part he would never be too far but for the few times she had to travel alone, he would make sure she had someone she trusted to accompany her.
They had met a little over ten years ago and had been married for the last eight. For a long time she didn't understand why he had chosen her, especially because there were plenty of other women throwing themselves at him, however she soon realised it was because she could help him out. And initially that's all their relationship had been for a good while, a business exchange, but they worked and well so they pursued it a little further. He was a busy man though, and that was something he knew and understood and for that reason their marriage was open... to an extent. She could be with whoever she wanted, so long as they weren't people they were in business with and it remained quiet. Having a stable marriage was important for his image and he needed it to remain that way to at least to the public eye.
Nicki opened her eyes and looked over at her phone as it buzzed on the side table next to the bathtub. She had expected his call soon and he was just on time.
