Sitting back against the headboard Nicki gently pried open her laptop. On nights like these where she couldn't switch off she would use the extra time to get some work done. Between herself and her husband, they ran a small scale property business that was well on it way to becoming much more. It hadn't initially been what they'd had their eyes set on for a family business but with the success of their Airbnb they took a chance to try out the sector and five years later they were starting to find their feet.

She reached over for her glasses that sat on her beside table and put them on, ready to delve into her spreadsheet once again.

The upcoming week was a busy one for her and any extra time she could find to reduce her workload she would use to do just that. They'd recently managed to rent out their newest property, a 3 bedroom townhouse close to the city center, and were working on refurbishing the apartment they owned downtown, so between the paperwork and interior decor, she was swamped. Nevertheless, she was a night owl and switching off at the end of the day didn't come easy, despite knowing her day would be off to a kick start by 7 in the morning.

She was deeply engrossed in the ways they could stretch their budget even further when she felt a hand on her thigh, and the gentle caresses that followed. Unphased by the familiar sensation she carried on and typed away as she heard him groan softly.

"What are you doing up?" he said, his voice still groggy even after only being asleep a little over an hour.

"I can't sleep," she said softly, but continued with the work she felt might multiply if she left it too long. "I'm sorry, did I wake you?" she asked, looking over at him as he lay with his eyes still shut.

"Mm mm" he hummed and she chuckled. She softly ran her hand over his durag as he continued to caress her thigh. "Go to sleep babe,"

"If I could I would baby," she watched as he took a deep inhale. "But you get some rest, I know you're tired,"

He'd come in from a business trip earlier that evening and the 6 hour flight had left him exhausted. He'd gone to scope a property in LA that they'd both been eyeing for a little while and were finally ready to make an offer on. Usually she would've accompanied him, but with their new tenants moving in and plenty of paperwork to be completed, she sat this one out.

It went quiet again as he just enjoyed the feeling of being back in his own bed and she fell right back into the swing of typing away. Being that she was so engaged with her work she didn't even notice that he too had sat up against the headboard, but she sure did notice when he picked up the laptop from her lap and placed it on his side table.

She let out a small gasp which caused him to chuckle. "No baby you need to save it," she said reaching for the laptop and he just wrapped an arm around her and pulled her into his chest.

"You need to sleep," he said and she sighed as she relaxed into him.

"And if you don't save that spreadsheet I definitely won't,"

Knowing she was being completely serious, he did just that, but was sure to close the laptop as soon as he had. He gently pulled off her glasses and placed them on top of the laptop. "You got something on your mind?" he asked and felt her shake her head. "You been like this all week?"

"You know I hate being away from you," she replied, knowing he wouldn't be to happy about her not getting enough rest.

"And you know I need you well rested. I'm here now though." He placed a couple of kisses on her temple and she relished in the feeling. He was right. "The house really is beautiful though baby, gated community and all," he spoke of the place he'd been to see.
