"What do you want me to make you?" Nicki asked as they walked into her kitchen and straight to the fridge.

"Surprise me," he gave back, taking a seat on one of the island stools but never breaking away from the text conversation that he was having. Nicki mumbled a complaint under her breath which was enough to get his attention. "What did you say?"

"Maybe if you were paying attention you would've heard me the first time," she said, taking out the ingredients to make them a meal.

"Speak louder and maybe I will," he said just as his phone started ringing. He sighed knowing where the conversation was headed but answered it anyway, and placed it on loudspeaker causing Nicki to roll her eyes the second she heard the voice on the other end.

"But baby you said you were gonna see me tonight," she whined and he looked at Nicki who was disgusted by the woman's needy nature.

"I didn't say that actually, I said maybe," he justified as he gently twisted the chair he was sitting on from side to side. "I got asked to work tonight and I couldn't refuse. I'll see you some other time,"

"Tomorrow?" she asked.

"I've got plans tomorrow,"

"With who?"

"Unfortunately that's none of your concern," he replied nonchalantly and Nicki couldn't hold back her laugh causing him to frown at her knowing she'd started another problem for him.

"Who's that?"

"Listen, I'll see you sometime next week, and I'll let you know when," he said, very quickly wrapping up the phone call and hanging up. He stood and walked over to the fridge to help himself to a bottle of water.

"Why are they all so whiny," Nicki commented as she mentally made sure she had everything she needed. "Are they aware they're one of a few?"

He shook his head with a smile. "Why you say it like that?"

"Am I lying? Dare I say it Aubrey-"

"Don't," he interjected before she got the chance to insult him. "And if you really wanna know," he said closing the fridge door, taking the butter out of her hand and placing it on the counter before backing her into the small wall space. "You can find out." He swiftly took her leg into the crook of his arm and palmed her ass cheek whilst he placed his other hand on the wall behind her. "I been told you all you gotta do is say the world mama and I'll show you a good time,"

They locked eyes and she felt the heat rushing to her face and tinting her cheeks as he bit his lip. "Stop it," she finally got out and lightly pushed him away, encouraging a smirk from him as he pulled away and diverted his attention back to his phone.

"She saved me in her phone as bestie..." he sang and she didn't hesitate to throw a tea towel at him. "What?!"

"Carry on and I will kick you out right now," she said in a serious tone and he burst into a fit of laughter knowing she was being completely serious.

He had recently started tampering with the dynamic of their friendship and where it had come from, she had no idea but it had led her to question their dynamic also. She had been adamant she'd never cross that line with him and hence they'd become as close as they were. His playboy nature had alway been a turnoff for her, but she'd be lying if she was to say she didn't find him even a little bit attractive.

"You coming to Chubbs's birthday tomorrow?" He asked and she sighed. "I take that as a yes,"

"I really don't wanna go to the club," she said, as she continued with her task. "And it's also people I don't really know,"
