The last day at Karasuno High Finally came. Usually, people would gather at the courtyard, handing flowers to their senpai's, as they wished them luck for their future, but something was off. Something was wrong. Someone was missing. Hinata Shoyo. Something's wrong, he wouldn't be missing this...maybe he's sick...ugh.

--------------

Today's the day. The final day I get to live, or well, what I thought. I rushed through the bustling streets, heading my way through the hospital. After thinking long and hard, I decided that I'm too selfish to let go...so I decided to go through with the surgery.

He laid on the gurney, as the doctors wheeled him into the surgery room. The light turned red, "surgery in process."

He was put on anesthetics and was put off into the room.

--------------

Kageyama coughed, choking on blood stained flowers.

"Hah, this is it, I guess."

And at that moment, he felt the growth in his chest retract. The flowers withered, falling beneath his fingertips...the words of the doctor repeated in his head.

"If they die."

No, he couldn't have.

Kageyama ran, he ran as fast as his lungs could take him, reaching Hinata's house. His fists banged against the wooden door, as Hinata's mother opened it.

"W-Where's Shoyo?"

"He didn't tell you?"

Kageyama shook his head, his eyes filled with worry.

"He's in the hospital-"

Before she could finish, Kageyama shouted thank you and sprinted towards the hospital. He reached the reception, panting and out of breath. He hurriedly asked the nurse, "Where's Hinata Shoyo?"

"He's currently going under his operation; surgery."

----------------

A few hours had passed, Kageyama pacing back and forth outside the surgical room. Finally, they wheeled out a boy, covered in a blanket. Orange hair poked out. An IV drip, hanging to his wrist, he was pale. Kageyama quickly walked up to the gurney, where he lied.

"H-how is he?"

"He'll be alright, just he needs time for recovery."

Kageyama nodded, looking down at the tangerine, his fingers running through the softness of the other's hair. His Hanahaki stopped, and that meant something, maybe it means that Shoyo is destined to die.

Kageyama spent the rest of the night over at the hospital, the others were quickly notified about Hinata. Commotion sprouted, as they all decided to head over to miyagi to visit Hinata.

----------------

Once it was in the afternoon, they had all came to the hospital. Tsuki, Oikawa, the twins, Sakusa, Tendou, Ushijima, Akaashi, Bokuto, Kuroo, and Kenma. The orange headed boy rested there, looking ever so peacefully. He looked weak, bedridden, tired, sad.

Kenma gently grabbed Hinata's hand, squeezing it tightly for reassurance. With that, the tangerine fluttered his eyes, opening them to see the bright light of the hospital room. His bright twinkling eyes were dull. He sat up gently, wincing in pain, as he grabbed onto the side of the hospital bed.

"Sho- How are you," Kenma had asked worriedly.

With a bland tone, Hinata responded, "I'm fine."

The guys were in shock, as the once cheerful sunshine had seemed to have rain cast upon him, falling into gloom. Kageyama's heart ached.

He asked for privacy with Hinata, which they all granted, nodding and leaving the two in the room alone.

"H-hey...um...w-what was the surgery for..."

Bluntly, Hinata responded. "Hanahaki."

Kageyama's eyes widened in shock. He knew what that meant. Hinata no longer had the ability to feel love, or well emotions.

Kageyama looked at Hinata with sad eyes, whimpering.

"Why did you do it?"

"Because I was too selfish to leave."

Kageyama's eyes welled, "Boke...Hinata...boke...I love you..."

Hinata seemed unaffected.

"Oh."

Kageyama sighed, his head dropping, he wiped his tears before whispering two words. "I'm sorry."

And he left the room. The others walked into the room, only to see Hinata staring out the window with a blank expression. Something had changed, something was different, and they all knew. That despite him being here physically, their sunshine was gone. He was gone.

Although here was Hinata Shoyo, his voice, his laughter, his giggles, were not the same. He wasn't the same. He was no longer the boy that they had all fallen for.

And with that, the treacherous Hanahaki still won in the end. Maybe if he had told them he had liked them he wouldn't have been sitting on the hospital bed feeling so empty, alone, afraid. Something inside of him was different. It was as if he was drowning in murky bog water, gasping for air. It was as if the world had become devoid of life. As if, there was no more meaning.

And with that, they had lost him, despite him being there, he was gone. Their Sunshine was gone.

End of Alternate Ending.
