True Destiny

Chapter 25

Corbyn's POV:-
It's been a few days since the truth and dare game and Jack had been avoiding me ever since. I knew I had fucked up. I had fucked up bad.

Currently, I was in the living room with Daniel and we we're playing COD on my Xbox. Jack was busy in the garden doing god knows what. None of us were allowed in the garden since Jack wanted it to be a surprise for everyone. I was so distracted with my thoughts that my character almost died in the game.

Daniel immediately paused the game and looked at me.

"Dude. Are you even paying attention to the game?", he asked.

"Hm. Oh yeah. Sorry", I said. "Just got distracted".

"You've been pretty distracted these last few days", he said crossing his arms. "Care to tell why?"

I sighed running a hand through my hair.

"It's about Jack isn't it?", he immediately asked as I remained silent.

"What? No", I said trying to cover it up.

"Cut the crap Corbyn. All of us know you have a crush on Jack", he said.

"Not all of us", I mumbled under my breath.

"What?", he asked immediately.

"Nothing", I said shaking my hand.

"Look Corbyn. You should really tell him how you feel", he said putting a hand on my shoulder.

"I'm scared okay", I said. "What if he rejects me? I don't want to feel humiliated, especially after what I did to him".

"Seriously. That's what you're worried about", he said chuckling. "Dude trust me, he loves you, he won't reject you. And I can tell that's not the only reason".

"Okay fine. You caught me", I said shrugging. "There is something else".

"I knew it", he said sitting up straight. "What is it?".

"I- uh can't really tell you", I said.

"Oh. Okay", he said chuckling. "Just so you know though, no matter what you should never let anything come in between your dream. If you really want to be with Jack nothing's going to stop you. Not even your destiny."

His tone became very serious over the last few words.

"I umm. Okay", I said getting a little bit of determination.

Just then Jack entered the house and my heart immediately skipped a beat. Even though most of his outfit was covered in dirt and he was sweaty, he still looked gorgeous. I sighed as I kept looking at him. He didn't even look my way. Like I said, he was fully avoiding me.

I heard someone clear their throat and turned around to see Dani looking at me with one eyebrow raised.

"Come on Corbs", he said. "You're clearly smitten for him. Just go tell him how you feel. This is your opportunity".

"But-", I started but was cut off.

"Uh uh. No buts", he said interrupting me. "Just go".

"Ugh fine", I said and got up.

"Easy there, lover boy", Daniel said gripping my wrist as he stopped me. "At least give him time to change".

"But you just said-", I started but he cut me off again.

"I know what I said", he said. "Just sit down".

I rolled my eyes at him but sat down. I watched Jack as he made his way to our room. Daniel nudged me with his elbow.

"What?", I asked turning towards him.

"Dude. Stop starting at him", he answered letting out a laugh.

"Oh shut up", I said. "Like I don't see the way you look at Zach. You're clearly in love with him".

"Shhh. Not so loud", he whispered putting a hand over my mouth. "Yes, I do but how'd you know?".

"I'm not an idiot Dani", I said chuckling.

"Hmm. Yeah. Sure", he said grinning.

I playfully shoved him and we both bursted into laughter.

"Okay. Time for you to go", Daniel said five minutes later.

"Okay", I said getting up. He gave me a thumbs up ad I turned to look at him when I approached the stairs. I gulped and headed up the flight of stairs.

I entered mine and Jack's room and found him combing his hair in front of the mirror. He turned to look at me for a millisecond before turning his head back to comb the rest of his hair.

Once he had done that, he turned to leave the room but I grabbed his wrist stopping him. He sighed but didn't fight it.

"What do you want Corbyn?", he asked finally letting me hear his voice after what felt like a million days. And God. His voice was so beautiful. I had really missed it. Okay, we're getting side tracked here.

"I uh. Need to say something to you", I said.

"If it's about me not answering the truth, I told you I don't want to talk about it", he stated.

"No. It's not that", I quickly said. "Well, technically it is but it's not".

He raised his eyebrow at me as I took a deep breath, my heart beating fast.

"I uh. I really like you Jack", I said spilling my confession "Like more than a friend and every time I see you, my heart skips a beat. Every time I think about you my heart warms up. What I'm trying to say is that I've fallen in love with you during these past couple of weeks."

Jack looked at me and sighed. He looked down then looked up at me hesitantly.

"Corbyn I- I can't", he almost mumbled that I barely heard him but the sound of my heart breaking would've been heard by anyone even if they were listening from a couple of miles away. "I'm really sorry Corbs. Just know that it's not you, it's me. I-uh there's something else".

"Okay", I whispered than exited the room going back to the living room. Daniel was still there and he smiled at me as I came but probably seeing the expression, his grin faltered and he reached out to hug me.

"He-he rejected me Dani", is all I could mumble out.

"Oh my. I'm so sorry Corbs", is all he said hugging me tightly. "I shouldn't have made you do that. I'm so so sorry".

I hugged back and sighed.

"It's not your fault Dani. We were just never meant to be together", I said, my voice almost breaking at the end. Guess Jack wasn't part of my destiny to begin with. Guess it was just a typical fantasy of mine that would never come true and that I took too far, on my own. Daniel remained silent but honestly, there was nothing for him say. Everything was obvious now. I sighed again as I pulled away from the hug, my thoughts running now. Daniel, who remained beside me, didn't say anything and let me get lost in my own thoughts.
