Captain Status

Mina's P.O.V.

"Mina Mitsuyoshi?" Commander Erwin called.

I stood up as he walked into the meeting room of the barracks. The others were sitting in the chairs. They all looked at him.

"I've reviewed your field performance and your kill amount. You have hereby been promoted to Captain. You're new squad will be formed in a week. Say farewell to Squad Levi and prepare to lead a new batch of rookies."

I saluted to him, and he walked away. I took a deep breath and let out a frustrated scream. The other four eyed me like I was insane.

"Mina, it isn't that bad. You're a Captain! You get to lead a new squad!" Sakura cheered.

"I don't want to lead a new squad! I'm not much of a Captain, and I've let so many people die!" I snapped.

I knocked my chair down and walked to my room. Levi followed me.

"Mina, everything will be fine." He told me, closing the door to our room.

"No, it won't." I turned to face him. "I became a wreck after Haru died! If I become a Captain and see innocent children die, I'm gonna lose my mind."

"Come here." He whispered, holding his arms out to me.

I walked over to him, and he wrapped his arms around me.

"Everything happens for a reason, Mina. Erwin thinks you're ready, and so do I. I'll teach you a few things that I know, and you'll do great." He told me, gently rubbing my back.

"Levi, we won't be in the same part of the barracks anymore." I mumbled, trying not to cry.

"Don't worry, Sweetheart. I won't love you any less than I do now if you aren't with me."
