Mina's P.O.V.

"Retreat!" Levi yelled.

I pulled on Maximus's reins. He whined and stood up on his hind legs. I fell off of him and covered my face with my hands as he jumped over me. He ran back with the others. I slowly sat up and stared at the Titan that was coming toward me.

~Later that Day~

Levi's P.O.V.

"Where the hell is Mina?" I barked.

We heard a horse whine, and we all turned to see Maximus running toward us. Mina wasn't on his back.

"Maximus!" Sakura yelled, grabbing his reins and petting him. "Where's Mina?"

Maximus whinnied and lowered his head as if he understood what she had said.

"Levi, Erwin said we can't go back outside of the wall for another three or four days. Mina won't be alive by the time we go back out there." Kris said.

"Shut up! Mina knows how to survive!" Sakura barked.

Mina's P.O.V.

It was getting dark, and the darkness brought with it a chilling cold. I walked around aimlessly trying to find some form of shelter. A Titan was laying on the ground, its eyes closed. I walked around it to find a tree with a hole in the bottom of its trunk. I got on my knees, took off my 3D maneuvering gear, and crawled through the small opening.

The inside of the trunk was hollow. I pulled my 3D maneuvering device through the hole, grabbed my blades, and crawled back out of the hole. I walked on top of the Titan and sliced through the nape of its neck. I looked around. Several of the plants around me had long leaves. I cut off several of them, grabbed two rocks, and walked over to my tree.

I threw the rocks into the hole and shoved the leaves through. I looked around and saw a few squirrels. I threw my blades at them and easily killed them.

"It's not enough meat to eat, so I'll have to use this to keep the Titans away." I muttered, picking up the bodies of the squirrels.

I grabbed a few sticks, used my blade to sharpen the ends of them, and drilled a few holes above the entrance to my small shelter. I stabbed the sticks through the squirrels and hung them on the trunk, their blood dripping down the bark.

"Stupid ass horse. If it weren't such a damn wuss, I wouldn't be stuck out here." I growled through my teeth.

I grabbed more sticks and leaves. I looked around for any Titans before I crawled into my temporary shelter. I piled up a few sticks, hit the two rocks together, and watched as their sparks lit a fire on the sticks.

I waited a few minutes to make sure the tree didn't catch on fire. When it didn't, I laid my hand against the wall. My hand was covered in tree sap when I pulled it away.

"Must not be flammable." I whispered.

I wiped the tree sap off on the leaves, using it as glue to stick the leaves onto the remaining sticks. I stuck my hand outside of the tree and leaned the sticks toward me. The tip touched the tree, and I dug the other end into the dirt.

Once I was sure the hole was hidden, I sat next to the fire, adding a leaf or stick to it to keep the flames going. I used my jacket as a pillow when I laid down, and draped my cape over me, serving as a blanket.
