Sleeping In

Mina's P.O.V.

I stared at Levi while he slept. He had woken up late last night coughing, and he couldn't fall back asleep after that. I looked at the door when Sakura walked in.

"How is he?" She asked, being as quiet as she could.

"I don't know if he's sick or not. He just fell asleep a little while ago." I answered.

"Well, if he is sick, you'll have to be temporary Captain."

I looked at Levi. "I hope it doesn't come to that."

She sighed and headed back out. "I'll make some hot soup for him. He'll have to eat soon."

She closed the door, and the soft click echoed. I stretched my hand out and laid it gently on Levi's forehead. His skin was extremely hot, and he groaned softly at my touch. I got up, walked to the bowl that was set on his desk, and dip a clothe into it. I twisted it, letting the water splash back into the bowl as the clothe was drained, and went back to my chair.

I folded the clothe and carefully laid it on his forehead. His grip on the blanket tightened, and he started coughing. I slid my hand under his and ran my thumb over the back of his hand. He opened his eyes slightly and looked at me.

"Mina?" He croaked.

"How do you feel, Levi?" I asked.

"My throat is dry."

I looked at Kris as he opened the door. He walked in, a cup in his hand. He looked at Levi before he looked at me.

"Sakura could hear his cough from the kitchen. She told me to bring you this." He explained, holding the cup out to me.

I smiled and took it from him. He nodded at Levi before he walked out, closing the door behind him. I set the cup down on the night stand, moved the clothe off of Levi's forehead, and helped him sit up. He coughed harder, and I lowered my head.

"Don't be upset, Mina. It's normal to get sick." He muttered, grabbing the cup of water.

A tear rolled down my cheek, and he stared at me in disbelief. I wiped it away, not understanding why it was there in the first place. He sighed and drank some of the water. He set the cup down, grabbed my hand, and pulled me forward. I climbed onto the bed and sat in between his legs.

"I'll be okay, Mina." He murmured.

He moved my hair away from my forehead and gently pressed his lips to my skin.

"You should get some more sleep, Levi." I said, making him lay down.

He smiled lightly and touched my cheek. "Thanks for caring about me."

"I'm your girlfriend. It's my job." I answered.

Sakura and I stood side by side, our eyes on Levi. He was fast asleep, laying on his stomach. He looked younger than he really was as he hugged the pillow.

"Time to go!" Kris called.

"Coming!" Sakura answered.

She ran out of the room. Levi groaned and opened the only eye visible to me.

"Where are you going?" He asked, eyeing my uniform and 3D maneuvering device.

"We're heading out on a mission. Sakura made you some soup. Heat it up in the kitchen if you get hungry. We'll be back soon." I answered.

I got down on one knee, ran my hand down his neck, and kissed him gently. He groaned when I pulled away.

"Can't you stay?" He mumbled.

"I have to take your place as Captain. I'll be back soon." I told him.

I stood up and walked to the door. I looked at him over my shoulder. He was staring at me.
