NEW YEARS EVE, 2019

"We did it, we made it through the year," Harry said quietly, an arm around my waist as we waited for the countdown. Luckily, where we lived was quite close to where the fireworks were held, so we were able to see them first hand from our balcony.

Everyone else was enjoying a New Years party at Simon and JJ's flat, but with me being pregnant and not being able to drink alcohol, there didn't really seem like much point in going. I had told Harry to go and enjoy it if he wanted to, but he was adamant in staying home with me.

"Well, technically we still have a few more minutes..." I corrected him, giggling when he gave me a squeeze.

"Stop being pedantic, and appreciate that you made it through the year...you did it," he whispered, leaning across, a small kiss landing on my forehead.

"I guess I did...you too, though," I smiled, my head on his shoulder now.

"We both did. And in a couple minutes, it'll be the year our little family grows some more...and also the year we get married...you know how crazy that is?"

"Very crazy...we're getting so old now!"

"Hey! I'm not old...am I?"

"Only kidding, please don't go having an existential crisis right before the fireworks!" I joke, my attention focusing on the loudspeaker that I can only just understand.

"How wild is it that we live here, right where the fireworks are," I say to him in bewilderment. If you had asked me where I thought I would be right now when I was younger, I wouldn't have said here. Nowhere near here.

"Well I should hope so...place costs a bomb," he said sarcastically, but also listening intently the the announcement.

It was now the last minute of 2019, and Big Ben was displaying the counter.

"So close now..." he whispered, taking a sip of the singular alcoholic beverage he had allowed himself to enjoy tonight.

Thirty seconds now.

"You remember new years eve four years ago?" I asked quickly, the thought popping into my head.

"At the house?"

"Yeah, we made a bet with Freya and Josh and that..."

"Oh yeah! What about it?"

"Nothing in particular...just thinking about how different everything was back then, how far we've come now...makes you think, doesn't it?" I ask, and he was about to answer until we heard the loudspeaker shout the countdown.

"Ten!"

"Nine!"

"Eight!"

"Seven!"

"Six!"

"I love you," I whispered to Harry, with just five seconds left to go.

"Four!"

"Three!"

"I love you too."

"Two!"

"One!"
