"Hey, you're going to hogsmeade today, right?" Hermione asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"Because I'm going with harry, and I didn't know if you wanted to come along with us."
"Oh, I'm sorry, hermione. But draco wants to meet me at the three broomsticks. Says he wants to have a date after he does an errand. He's already left to do it, actually."
"Would you like to join us on our walk, then?"
"Yeah, I'll join you. Where is harry? Is he upstairs getting ready?"
"Actually, I'm right here." Came a voice from my right, making me jump.
I looked over and saw nothing but air. "Invisibility cloak, I'm guessing?" I reached out and my fingers brushed the fabric of the cloak.
"Yeah. I don't want to deal with people today."
We set off towards hogsmeade. It looked like it was just hermione and I talking to each other, but what people didn't know was that we had a third person with us, he's just under an invisibility cloak.
"What do you think the first task is going to be?" I wondered.
"Nothing good I'll bet." Harry answered.
"The task is a week away. They could at least give the champions that long if a heads up to prepare for the task." Hermione muttered.
Harry scoffed. "They won't."
I noticed draco stepping out of the local jewelry shop. What is he doing? He saw me, and smiled, waving me over.
"I'll let you two go. See you both back at school?"
Hermione nodded. "Have fun on your... date." She smirked at me.
"Yeah, have fun." Harry sounded a little less happy about this.
I walked over to draco, wrapping my arms around his neck once I was close enough. "Hello."
"Hello, love." He pressed his lips lightly against mine. "Are you ready for our date?"
"Sure. What were you doing in there?" I pointed back at the shop he just came out of.
"It's nothing. It's a surprise."
"Let me guess, a surprise for me?"
He held the door to the three broomsticks open for me and rolled his eyes. "Not everything is about you, y/n. I had to get my ring cleaned."
I looked down to his ring and saw that it was still dirty. "Well, if they cleaned it for you, they did a terrible job at it."
His cheeks turned a light pink and I smiled triumphantly. The three broomsticks was as crowded as it usually was. Almost all tables were full, except for one.
"Why don't you go save us a table, and I'll be right back with our drinks." Draco kissed my cheek, and went up to the bar.
I dodged my way through the other students, a mixture of durmstrang, beauxbatons and hogwarts. I took my jacket off, and draped it over the back of my chair. I sat down, tapping my foot. That's when I felt the uneasy presence. I subtly looked up to the second floor and saw ivan with krum, trying not to make it obvious that he keeps looking at me.
"Y/n diore." A feminine voice snapped me out of my thoughts. A blonde woman I know all too well stood before me. "Rita skeeter, but of course you know that, don't you?" She shook my hand. "May I sit?"
Before I could even answer, she pulled the chair on my left out and sat down. Knowing how rita is in her articles, I looked over to draco nervously, wishing he would hurry up with our drinks. I can't really get mad at him or madam rosmerta. This place is packed.
I cleared my throat. "Of course I know who you are, miss rita. I've seen you at some of the parties my family and the malfoy's put together."
"Yes. I actually wanted to ask you a few questions."
"About what?"
"About you and the young draco malfoy being in an arranged marriage." She waved her wand, and a quill and notepad flew in the air, ready to take down notes.
"That arrangement happened over a year ago. Why now are you asking me questions about it?"
"I was very busy. And during the party, after the big announcement, I couldn't get any time alone with you. You seemed to have been very close with mr. malfoy." She winked.
"I guess you could say that."
"Tell me, did you know about the arrangement your father made with lucius malfoy?"
I rubbed my hands under the table. "No, I didn't have a clue about it until it was announced. Draco knew something about it, though."
"But you and mr. malfoy weren't always as close as you are now, right? I've heard a few things from your classmates about the two of you not getting along with each other."
I nervously watched the quill scribble everything down on the pad. "Uh, no. We didn't really like each other at first. In fact, I wasn't really happy about the arrangement, but I knew my father would do what's best for me, so I trusted his judgement."
"So to did, in fact, hate the idea of being married to someone like draco malfoy."
"At first, ye-"
"And you would go back and change it?"
"What-?"
"It just seems weird to me how you say that you hate the idea, but now you're alright with everything."
I scoffed. "Well, people's opinions change-"
"I think that's all we need for today." Rita grabbed her quill and notepad, shoving them both in her purse. "Have a wonderful day, miss diore."
I stared after her, open mouthed. Did that really just happen? I know what's happening, and I'm already dreading it.
"Here you go, my love. A butterbeer for you, and one for me." Draco sat my drink in front of me. He saw my face, and knew something was wrong. "Are you okay?"
I chewed the inside of my cheek, feeling it bleed. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just wanting this day to be over with."
"What's wrong? You can tell me anything."
"Well, I just had a lovely chat with rita skeeter, and ivan from durmstrang keeps finding me wherever I go, and staring at me."
Draco rolled his eyes. "First pottah, now the damn durmstrang student?"
"Wait, what about harry?"
"Nothing, just the fact that I catch him looking at you all the time!"
My head tilted to the side. "But why would harry be looking at me? I know that I'm his friend, but I don't know why-"
Draco started laughing. "You really don't see it? He fancies you. Haven't you ever realized how quiet he gets whenever he sees you with me?"
"N-no. Draco, it's not like that. He's my best friend. Besides, I think he likes cho chang."
"I think he likes you a little more than friends, y/n."
The door to the three broomsticks opened, and hermione walked inside. She held the door open a little longer than usual, no doubt holding it open for harry. If what draco said was true, I just know it's gonna end in a giant fight. I don't think I can stand loosing a friend.
