Chapter 13

3rd person's POV:

(Y/n) was still yet to arrive, and with every passing hour Kakashi's worries did nothing but to increase. Firstly because of her well-being. Both Tsunade and her had assured him that the mission wasn't dangerous at all, although he knew that in every mission there was a potential danger. But he tried to calm himself by trusting her abilities, and much to his dismay, Genma's power as a ninja too. Still, he couldn't help but spend his day thinking things like "I hope she doesn't strain herself too much" "I hope she doesn't feel too nauseous" "Please don't fight..." and many other worries.

But then, there was also his other latent worry: the ring. He still had it in his pocket, and sometimes he stared at it or played with the box while he lost himself in thought. It always helped him remember that he had to find a solution to this. He still wanted to marry her so badly... Every day, every single day he woke up to her, every time he saw her bewitching smile, when they were both nuzzled on the couch and she let him caress her small bump, their future son or daughter. She just filled him with happiness, and all he could think about was officially calling her his wife, his family. But he was still worried about her pregnancy, and a small part of him even for her answer.

He thought about what Jiraiya told him, about just confessing to her and see what happens later. But Kakashi knew his girlfriend, and he knew (if she said yes, which made his heartbeat quicken just from the thought) that she wouldn't care about the other's opinion on the reason for their marriage. But he cared. Not of the people's opinions, of course, he couldn't give a damn about it; but he cared about her well-being if people talked about her and their family. He didn't want her to have to hear anything like that.

It drove him crazy. His heart was practically pushing out of his mouth, making him be on the brink of kneeling in front of her every time he looked at her. God, how difficult it had been when she sat on the sofa, reading peacefully, and he watched her from the kitchen while he cooked dinner. How many times he dropped what he was cooking and walked out of the kitchen to propose to her, but headed back with a blush and shaking his head thinking about it twice.

He basically had to fight with himself all day. Sometimes he thought he couldn't last any longer and would just tell (Y/n) what he felt once she came back. But then, when he actually pictured the moment, he panicked and changed his mind.

In any way, (Y/n) had to come back today, so Kakashi spent all morning around the gates, sitting in a corner on a bench while reading under a shadow cast by one of the big trees scattered around Konoha. He'd look up from his book from time to time, his throat closing lightly whenever he thought he would see (Y/n) walk through the doors.

He normally wouldn't be this obsessive with her. He would do his things and think of her from time to time, sure, but he would never wait on the gates for her. But this time it was different because he wanted to make sure that her and his baby were alright. He needed to know.

It was one of the many times Kakashi had looked up from his book, he was already expecting to have been tricked by his peripheral vision again, but he wasn't. He closed his book and stood up, and almost instantly (Y/n) spotted him, a huge smile forming on her lips while she had to repress an urge to run and hug him. However, after they both walked towards each other, she couldn't help it and ended up hugging him tight feeling emotional. Her hormones striking again. She was never one to miss Kakashi like that. She missed him, obviously. But she was mature enough to focus on her tasks and leave it as a mild feeling. But she realized that since she was bearing his child she found herself wanting to be near him the more the better, and even though she tried to hide it even to herself, she also felt more scared of things she wouldn't normally be afraid of. That was something she had discovered during the mission.
