Chapter 36

3rd person's POV:

"I still think it's a bad idea, babe" Kakashi said while he put Sakuto his small ninja sandals while he sat on the entrance step.

"C'mon, it'll be alright! It's been ages since we had a date just the two of us"

"I want the date too" Sakuto mustered, looking at his parents without understanding.

"Today mom and dad are going to be away for a little, remember?" (Y/n) said to Sakuto who pouted. They had explained it to him before, and he didn't really like the idea of having to be with other people. It felt wrong that his parents were leaving him somewhere else. But after further explanation, he understood it would be okay and they'd come for him eventually.

"I just think it'd be better to leave him with Asuma, and Mirai" Kakashi added as he finished zipping Sakuto's sandals.

"Daddy! The scarf!" he said, giving his dad his old scarf so that he could tuck him in it.

"You have to learn to put it on yourself, Sakuto" Kakashi said while he took care of it.

"C'mon give them a chance, maybe they're better than you think, Kashi. I'm sure a day with old team 7 can be pretty exciting for a kid" (Y/n) said as they exited their home, both of them holding each hand of Sakuto as they walked slowly to walk to the little kid's rhythm "They've been faced with S-ranked missions, Kashi. I'm sure they will be okay with taking care of a kid" she said, but Kakashi sighed.

Originally, team 7 was supposed to take care of Sakuto at Kakashi and (Y/n)'s place. But Kakashi quickly refused as he had other plans for the house for the day... So instead, they were supposed to leave him at Sai's apartment. It took them a little longer to get there because of Sakuto's small steps, but in the end, they arrived and left him there. Sakuto watched his parents get farther away hand in hand, wondering where they would go without him and what could they possibly do without him. And meanwhile, Kakashi and (Y/n) smiled relieved, finally having time for themselves in all ways they could think of. It was 10 am and they didn't need to pick Sakuto up until 7 pm so there really was time for them to do all and everything they hadn't been able to.

"C'mon Sakuto! We have a full day ahead of us!" Naruto said cheerfully, taking Sakuto's attention as the kid squinted his eyes slightly at his loudness.

He looked at the blonde young adult and ignored him to just walk around the house in exploration.

"What is he doing?" Naruto asked, trying to mask his crushing heart at being ignored by the kid.

"Kids can be really curious, I'm sure he's just exploring Sai's place" Sakura said.

"You say that because he hasn't ignored you..." he muttered while Sai just smiled at the kid and Sakura ignored him "Okay, exploration time it is then" he added "... what do we do?" he whispered to his old teammates.

"I guess we keep an eye on him" Sai answered, completely clueless too and probably wondering how he had ended up as a babysitter.

"Okay, I don't think we're doing a great job. Where is he?" Naruto asked, and Sakura's eyes widened at his words. She looked around and saw that indeed the kid had disappeared from their range of vision.

The three ninjas looked around the apartment until they found him inside a cupboard from the kitchen, eating some of Sai's food.

"You were here?" Sakura said with a gentle smile "Are you perhaps hungry?" she asked, but again Sakuto didn't answer and just crawled down from the cupboard to go wandering off again. Naruto mocked her disheartened expression at being ignored.
