Kakashi's POV:

For some reason we can't explain, Sakuto wasn't able to sleep at all almost all day. He woke up in the morning, later than usual (which was around 7 or 8 am), and except after dinner time when he took a short nap, he didn't sleep anymore. Normally he'd eat every 3 or 4 hours, and after that, he'd nap a little less than an hour. But not today. Which though it made (Y/n) and I not able to rest, we at least could take turns. That was until Sakuto wondered where his mom or dad was and started crying and wouldn't stop until the one who was sleeping held him and played with him.

However, there was a good side to this. If Sakuto had barely slept all day, that meant that when night came he'd be so tired he'd maybe sleep through all night and wouldn't wake us up every three hours.

It looked like that when he finally fell asleep at 8 pm. (Y/n) had been sleeping for an hour, and I had stayed with him because he could never be alone, especially not to sleep. So he laid tiredly on my chest as I read one of my books that I had missed so much and that was one of the few things keeping me from becoming crazy.

I read this in one of those parenthood books, that for the babies, hearing their parents' heartbeat relaxed them. And that, added to the way he went up and down with my breathing, I think helped him fall asleep. And soon, I couldn't stay awake much longer and ended up succumbing to the exhaustion.

When I woke up though, even if it was still night outside, I woke up without my book on my face as if it had fallen on me, and Sakuto (who was still asleep) and I were covered in a blanket. I blinked twice, rubbing my eyes as one hand went to Sakuto's back who keep breathing steadily as he slept heavily. Then I realized the distant sound of something being slightly fried. The kitchen stove stopped.

Before I could even process anything (Y/n) appeared, now looking more rested and with a bowl of rice and pork. She caressed my forehead, taking off some of my silver hair out of my face as I woke up some more.

"I figured you wouldn't have eaten dinner" she smiled, and kissed my forehead before standing up "You eat, I'll put him in his crib"

I blinked twice, processing that it was her who took my book out of my face and tucked both Sakuto and me with the blanket. I nodded and she took him away from me, leaving my chest a little cold without my son's warmth and weight. She walked inside our bedroom, looking at our sleeping son with a smile, and meanwhile, I sat up and dug in her delicious food.

Once I was done I stood up and walked to the kitchen in order to clean up what she had used to make dinner for me. But when I was half cleaning I felt her deft and tender hands sliding from my sides to my abs, wrapping me in a hug from behind.

"You don't need to clean this. You can go to sleep some more while you can" she said softly after having laid a kiss on my back.

"It's okay. It's been a while since we haven't been tired to death, and awake at the same time" I said, cleaning the last things as her hands kept caressing me lovingly and she kept laying soft kisses on my back "Thank you for the food by the way"

"Mh? It's nothing" she smiled hugging me tighter as I finished drying the last things off.

I draped my hands over hers and turned around, laying them on my sides again before answering her embrace by putting my own hands on the sides of her face, taking out the hair she had near her face so I could see her completely while my thumbs caressed her beautiful cheeks.

I looked at her eyes, which were staring at me back, and genuinely and unconsciously smiled, pulling her closer in a soft and long kiss. We separated when we needed air, but only for a couple of minutes in which I caressed her cheek and stared at her some more. But she was just too gorgeous not to be kissed. So I did that again, this time more than a simple peck.
