Kakashi's POV:

(Y/n) and I were sitting in the waiting room. Luckily, it was a mixed room, and we were the only ones besides the other person that had already entered. This meant no one would know why we were here to visit.

I was so nervous, that I couldn't even bring myself to read my books. All I did was bounce my leg while (Y/n) held my hand and I looked around anxiously. And she had been doing this all alone while I was gone? My heart just clenched from the thought, and I gripped her hand tighter.

I heard her chuckle, probably of me, and then she began drawing patterns on the palm of my hand. This was something we had picked up the habit of doing. She knew that although I had a calm and cool demeanor, there were some things that made me anxious. So she would trace letters or patterns on either my back or my hand, depending on where we were. And it almost always worked, this time being one of those.

I stopped bouncing my leg as I tried to guess the words she was drawing on my hand, forgetting the bad things that could happen to the yet-to-be-born baby or to my pregnant baby. And instead, the happy thoughts and images of our possible future family came to mind, along with the questions I wanted to ask the doctor.

"Mr Hatake, Ms (L/n)" a nurse said, making me bite my lip under my mask from how I wished it had been 'Mrs Hatake' instead. Only another thing to add to my stress, the fact that I had yet to propose to her "the doctor will see you now"

We followed her to the examination room where we both sat up in front of the doctor. He welcomed us and looked at some papers that I imagined where from the time when (Y/n) came to make sure she was indeed pregnant.

He first took a sonogram of her and assured us that the pregnancy was going well so far, which made me breathe in relief while my heart pumped with strength.

"Is it a boy or a girl?" I couldn't help but ask in excitement, but looking at the black and white screen without being able to discern any shape.

They both looked at me and (Y/n) sweatdropped embarrassed.

"Kakashi... There's not even a formed baby yet" she said implying that she didn't even have a belly. 'Mmh that makes more sense'

"The gender of the baby will be known in the 20th week" he said, making me squint my eyes for a moment 'so 5th month, got it'.

He then asked both of us questions about our clinical history and our life habits, a silence followed after we both told him our occupations as ninja. He wrote something down on a paper and didn't say anything else. Then, he took a paper and started planning all of (Y/n)'s check-ups until he said when she'd be due.

"W-wait already?" (Y/n) asked in panic. I reached my hand to her and held it tight. I didn't want her to be scared, but I was also a little terrified myself. It still was 9 to 10 months from now, but the fact that there was already a date when she had discovered she was pregnant not that long ago...

"Well Ms (Y/N), the baby will have to come out one eventually" the doctor said, handing a copy of the calendar to her "It's just an estimated time, it could take longer, or in the worst cases it could come earlier"

"Worst cases?" I asked, afraid and swallowing a small lump on my throat.

"A premature baby, it happens more than we'd like to say," he said, making me swallow and tighten my hand around (Y/n)'s "But it should be fine. We have the best medical ninja and resources here" he assured us, although I still couldn't help but be uneasy "Okay then, if that's everything we'll see each—" he began saying, but I cut him off.
