*3rd person POV* (1.7k+ words)

The room was pitch black. The thick curtains hanging above the windows, blocking all the lights that might come from the city outside.

The vinyl had stopped playing long ago, and no other replaced it. Silence filled the space  instead.

Brendon laid restless on the bed. He found himself laying flat, arms crossed under his head. He looked at the darkness above him.

Even breaths, in and out. He focused on his breathing. Counting sheep to stay occupied and maybe try and fall asleep, seemed too old — childish, even. He acted like it sometimes, but that wasn't the point.

Thoughts were running in his mind, but none of them made sense. A muted movie played, faceless people acting the scenes. He didn't think much of it though, just closed his eyes.

A knock on the door dragged Brendon's attention back to his surroundings.

Without a response from Brendon — beside lazily adverting his gaze to the other side of the room — the door opened slowly.

Brendon didn't freak out, didn't scream. Didn't feel like he needed to do something other than nothing. He just stared; waited.

The darkness could be considered as an impediment to see. But, not to hear — A so familiar set of footsteps followed the creaking sounds the door made.

They were soft against the wooden-looking floor. Careful to not make any loud noises that could ruin the peaceful moment. They stopped when they got close to Brendon's side of the bed.

The cord hanging off of the lamp on top of the nightstand was pulled, making the bulb spring back to life — It lit up the face Brendon had grown very used to see.

No one said a word, or moved. They simply looked at each other. They both looked emotionless, but they knew those looks were far from emotionless.

The smallest of smiles was shown at Brendon's direction, before he spoke. "Hi," The two-letter word hung in the air just a second too long, before he added, "mind if I join you?"

Brendon shrugged and went back to stare at the ceiling, not really caring what the other did — Actually, not wanting to accept the feeling that grew in him, the second he saw him.

"This room looks just the same." He sounded so casual. Brendon almost envied how he could act so normal. "Your books are all here... you read much back in the day."

Brendon hummed, forcing his eyes to stay where they were at the moment. Even if they wanted to act as metal against the magnetic-like figure, walking over to him.
