It was only a matter of time.

The day Ryan's mom was diagnosed with cancer, it was already too late. Nothing could have saved her.

The news broke the entire Ross family. Damn, every person who knew her. And since that day everyone just lost it.

The tall, long-haired blonde woman was one of the kindest people you could have met.

Always with her big smile from ear to ear and her bright eyes, willing to help you in everything. Sweet and lovely Mrs. Ross.

Ryan's asleep when he receives the phone call, in the middle of the night the sound of his phone ringing out of the blue wakes him up. Who's calling at this hour?

Tiredly makes his best effort to grab his phone and looks at the ID, unknown number, ok?
He has a feeling of who or from where it could be, he isn't stupid. But still, he tries to think positive and just answer the phone.

"Hello, Mr. Ross?" The lady on the other line of the phone asks.

"Yes, Ryan talking." He answers with a raspy voice from just waking up. Rubbing his eyes trying to slip away the sleep.

"We're calling from the hospital-." She couldn't finish her sentence when Ryan cut her off.

"What happened?! Is my mom ok?!" Ryan is more awake than anything getting off of their bed. His voice louder this time but not confident at all.

A million of different scenarios passing through his mind, just like a movie playing inside in his head. A very terrifying one.

"I'm afraid not. Mrs. Ross is in a delicate situation right now, we're calling because we thought you could be good company for her."

"No w-way. Is s-she d-dying?" Ryan stutters, choking back tears and he's pacing back and forth around their room. Losing his mind and with no idea of what to do.

He knew that could happen very soon, just a matter of time. But the news still caught him by surprise, he hadn't been so mentally prepared for it, it hit him like a truck.

She isn't death yet. Breathe. Those words repeating over and over like a mantra.

"It would be better if you come here."

"I'll b-be the-there." Both of them hang up and Ryan sits on the bed, processing everything. If he stays on his feet he's sure he'll fall.

But just a few seconds and he stands up and rushes to dress up. He pick ups his jeans from the floor and grabs a plain white T-shirt from the closet. It may or may not be his but at this moment that's the last thing that matters.
