Part 25

You woke up earlier than your usually routine after you arrived back at your kingdom. With a heavy heart and a bad feeling your forced yourself out of your bed and went to the garden to breath some fresh air. You didn't received any news from Bucky on the last couple of weeks and you couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible happened to him. You caressed your belly trying to clear your mind from those bad thoughts that hunted you since you left him behind.

  "Good morning, your majesty. Why are you up on this hour?" Peggy approached you, a gentle smile on her face.

  "Good morning, Peggy. I couldn't sleep... I'm worried about James." you sighed heavily and Peggy held your hand tenderly.

  "I think Steve will write us soon, he said he would. Let's get inside and eat something, shall we?" she smiled again trying to calm you down but you could see she was worried just as much as you were.

  You followed her back to the castle when a terrible pain stopped you on your tracks. You fell to the ground holding your belly with both hands.

  "My queen!" Peggy rushed to your side, getting on her knees.

  "I think it's time, Peggy." you were able to say before a scream left your lips.

  "I will ask for help, I'll be right back, (Y/N)."

  No longer after that, you were carried back to your chambers, your mother and Peggy were by your side as you screamed in pain, none like you felt before.

  "You're doing great, darling. Just keep pushing it." your mother held your hand and Peggy cleaned your forehead with a wet cloth. The door opened slightly and Claire, one of your mother's friends who were also a midwife entered the room.

  "Thank Goodness you arrived! I'm sorry I know it's too early in the morning." your mother apologized but Claire shook her head and gave her a kind smile in return.

  "There's nothing to apologize for, my dear friend. It's the child who decides the time I suppose." your screaming filled the space again, the pain getting only worse. Claire placed herself in front of you, holding your legs open.

  "You're doing great, sweetheart. I know it hurts but you have to keep pushing. Soon it will be over." she smiled again and you did as she said, holding the sheets as you tried your best to deliver your child.

  You were worried about this moment, if you would succeed as a mother and mostly as a queen without your king by your side. You just wanted to be reunited with Bucky again, to have him by your side forever.

  "I can't do this." you cried desperately.

  "Of course you can! I'm already seeing it, you have to be strong." Claire said and with a final push you heard a child's cry as you rested your head against the headboard.

  "You did it, my queen!" Peggy said and you looked at her, tears falling down your cheeks.

  "I'm so proud of you, my daughter." your mother kissed your forehead.

  "Congratulations, it's a little girl." Claire said as she handed you your daughter, your little princess. You couldn't stop crying as you held her in your arms for the first time.

  "My beautiful princess." you said as her tiny fingers held your thumb. "You look just like your father." you caressed her chumby cheeks as you looked at her overflowing with love.
