It was recomforting to see the castle again, the place you called home in the last few years. Violet was sleeping in your arms as the carriage approached the castle's gate and you smiled at Peggy, holding her hand.

"We're finally home, Peggy." She looked at you with watered eyes and you held her hand tightly, squeezing it.

"Yes, we are my queen." Her words reached your ears and the carriage stopped. Through the window you saw Steve, smiling widely at your direction as he walked closer, opening the door for you. There was no sign of Bucky though and you sighed, suddenly feeling sorrowful for not seeing him again right away. You were sure he would be there, waiting for your arrival.

"Welcome back, Your Majesty." Steve bowed and extended one hand, helping you to get out of the carriage.

"I'm glad to see you well, Sir. Rogers." You smiled at him checking on Violet, still peacefully sleeping.

"Oh is that our little princess?" He came closer, taking a better look at your little girl.

"Yes, that's our princess." You caressed her cheek and she stirred a little at your touch. Steve turned back to the carriage and greeted Peggy with a kiss.

"I missed you so much, my love." Her words were heavy with emotion and you only smiled at them, wondering where Bucky might be.

"Steve… Where's James? I thought he would be here." You three walked in the castle while Sam took the carriage and the horses to the stables.

"He's in the chambers, my queen. He is… different." Steve lowered his head and you didn't know what to think from his statement.

"Only you can bring him back, my queen. Why don't you leave Peggy take care of the princess while you talk to him?" Steve suggested and you looked at Peggy.

"I think Steve is right. I'll watch over her and when you're both ready, I'll happily take her to the king's chamber." Peggy assured you and placed her arms around Violet as you handed her. After that, you walked to Bucky's quarters, anxiously wanting to see him again.

You slowly pushed the wooden door, and the room was dark, if it wasn't for the candle on the nightstand. The curtains closed, and you felt a bitter taste on your mouth. What happened for Bucky to isolate himself like this from you? From your child.

"James?" You called his name and you finally saw him, seated on the floor.

"Bucky, it's me." You kneeled before him, but Bucky remained in silence, his head low between his knees. You noticed his hair was much longer than the last time you saw him. You caressed his right arm and you noticed what it was missing from him.

"James, talk to me. I'm here, my love." You insisted, placing your lips on his head, holding him closer. That's when you heard his sobs, Bucky was crying.

"Yes, let it go Bucky. I'm here. I love you so much." You tighten your grip around him, pressing his head against your chest. He finally melted on your arms, relaxing in your embrace.

"I'm sorry, my queen. I'm no longer deserving of your affections." He cried and you shook your head.

"Stop this nonsense, James. Nothing will change the way I feel about you. Nothing. Didn't you want to see me again?" You lifted his chin to meet his blue orbs, his eyes reddened from crying and the bags under them didn't go unnoticed by you.

"I'm not whole anymore. You should leave me and find a real man." He continued and you gave him a sad smile.

"You're stuck with me, James. With us. Your family. Don't you want to meet your little princess?" You pressed your lips on his forehead and Bucky looked at you, confused.

"Do you mean our child survived? I thought something might happen to you. I had nightmares about it every night…" He rubbed his eyes and you helped him to stand up.

"Come with me, my king. Your daughter is waiting to meet her father." You smiled and took his hand on yours, walking to the door.
