A few months after what happened, it was time for your wedding with James. You already expected that since he needed a queen by his side to rule the kingdom but since his parents tragic death, James changed. He became a warrior, every Hydra soldier that crossed his path was found dead within minutes. The news traveled fast, and as your union was coming close, you worried about James, about what he would become if revenge consumed him.

"What's on your mind, my princess?" Peggy brought you back to reality as you both walked to the main room, where your future husband was waiting for you.

"I'm just a little nervous, that's all." it wasn't a complete lie, you were nervous after all.

"You'll be a wonderful queen." she smiled.

As you walked down the aisle, all eyes were on you, but you could only focus on James, standing next to the priest. His now long hair falling on his shoulder, a thick beard covering his cheeks and jawline. You could see a hint of a smile on his lips, not as wide as it used to be when he looked at you.

When you were close enough, James bowed and kissed your hand. "You look beautiful, my queen." his voice woke the butterflies on your stomach. After the ceremony and your first dance as king and queen, Bucky walked to his chambers and you followed him. That was one of the reasons your heart was beating faster on your chest, your first night together with him.

"Are you allright, James?" your voice trembled. He turned to you, removing his vest.

"There's a bedroom ready for you in the end of the hall. Steve will lead you there." his words lingered in the air as you stared at him, confused.

"James, I don't understand. We're married now, I'm aware of my duties tonight." you stepped closer to him.

"I would never force you to lay with me, (Y/N). You can leave now." he avoided your gaze as you felt his rejection hurting you more than you anticipated.

"As you wish, my king." you said bitterly before turning around and walking to the door.
