Part 6

After your parents departure back to your kingdom, James was getting ready to visit the village.

"I'm going with you, James." you stood by him as he prepared his horse.

"No, you are not. You're going to stay in the castle." he said turning his attention back to his task as you crossed your arms in front of your chest.

"Don't you want to introduce your queen to the people? What kind of king do you want to be?" you asked and James frowned, clearly annoyed by your attitude.

"Steve, I need Wilson and Barton to go with us. Also I need more men to hide in the forest. The archers too." James ordered and Steve nodded. "As you wish, my king."

"I'll need a horse too." you smiled and Bucky rolled his eyes. You find it really entertaining to annoy him.

"Why are you so... Never mind. We have to go now." he said and one of the guards brought another horse for you.

The village was already waiting for the king's visit and specially to meet you, their new queen. People were waving at you and throwing flowers as you and James walked side by side.

"I want to get closer to them. Let's walk by feet." you said to James.

"It's dangerous, (Y/N). I got eyes everywhere but still..." his expression was filled with worry.

"Please?" James stopped his horse and you did the same. Steve motioned to help you to get down, but Bucky stopped him, doing it himself. His arms were firmly placed on your waist and you held onto his shoulders for support as he put you on the ground.

"Don't leave my side." his gaze met yours. You nodded as you drowned on his ocean eyes, for a few seconds you completely forgot where you were or what you were supposed to do. But the moment was suddenly gone when Sir Wilson cleared his throat, earning a look of disapproval from Steve.

Now you understood why Bucky wanted you to stay in the castle. He's concerned about your safety. After loosing his parents, he would never risk your life too. You greeted the people with a smile, waving at them as James and the guards surrounded you. They all stopped when you kneeled in front of a young boy.

"Hello, what's your name?" you asked him.

"My name is Peter, your majesty. Those are for you." he handed you a bouquet of flowers. "You're very pretty." he continued, hiding himself behind a tree.

"Thank you, Peter. You're very kind." you said and kissed his cheek. The boy blushed and you giggled. James stood behind you with a glimpse of a smile on his lips.

"When I grow up I want to be just like you, my king. Maybe a little less grumpy." Peter said proudly looking at Bucky and you couldn't contain your laugh.

"What an adorable child." Bucky ignored his comment and you winked at Peter before continuing to walk alongside with your king.
