You woke up with the sunlight gently touching your skin, the golden glow filled the room through the curtains. Unfortunately when you turned to your left side the bed was empty and cold, your husband long gone. You tried your best to get up adjusting yourself to the growing weight on your body.

"Good morning, my dear princess." you caressed your belly and felt a soft kicking on your hand.

"Well, I'm hungry too. Let's get breakfast."

You dressed yourself with a comfortable dress and left the royal chamber.

"How far are they from the castle?"

"Not too far, Bucky. I don't know if we'll be able to stop them when they infiltrate into the castle's borders. Oh... Good morning, your majesty." Sam explained, worried. You didn't meant to intrude but he bowed as soon as he noticed you're presence.

"Oh good morning, my love." Bucky turned to face you, he looked nervous as he kissed your temple.

"Everything alright, James?" you asked and he smiled.

"Of course! Sam was just updating me about the situation on the kingdom's border. Nothing for you to worry about." he lied, again.

"Why don't you tell me the truth? I'm your Queen for God's sake! Are we in danger?" you didn't like to yell at him or anyone else but you knew something was wrong. You walked faster to the gardens as Bucky followed your steps.

"(Y/N), please don't be upset. I just want to protect you, both of you." Bucky came closer to you but you stepped back.

"Why are you hiding things from me? I'm not sick, I'm caring our child. I can handle the truth." you faced him.

"I'm sorry, my love. That visit I received from Sir Alexander was a warning. Hydra's army are already trying to invade our kingdom. You aren't safe here, not anymore." Bucky caressed your shoulders, his voice was low and you felt the weight and the sadness on his words.

"Is that the war? The one you're always afraid of?" you asked him.

"I suppose it is, darling. And I need to protect you. You and our princess. I sent a letter to your parents, we're arranging your departure back to your home soon."

"No! I'm not leaving you, James. That's not going to happen."

"Please, (Y/N). You have to. I can't protect you and fight a war in the same time. I need to be completely focused on the battlefield." he held your face with his both hands.

"Our child is coming soon to the world and I'll be without you by my side." you rested your hands on top of his, your voice carried the sadness forming on your heart as a single tear streams down your cheek.

"I'll join you as soon as I can. I promise you."

"I love you, James. You have to come back to us. You have to, do you hear me? I can't live without you."

"I will. I love you with all my heart and soul, my Queen, my love. I would never leave you. Never."

His promise was sealed when his lips met yours, a kiss that was filled with your love for each other but also felt like a goodbye.
