Final Part

Bucky convinced himself that he didn't deserve you or his daughter. That's all he would keep telling himself while he was alone, mourning a lost limb and drowning in his own suffering and sorrow. He followed you outside the castle, you both walking towards Steve and Peggy, who lifted her arms to put the little princess on yours. Bucky was nervous, but all his fears melted away when his eyes met Violet's blue ones for the first time. She was perfect, beautiful just like her mother, she was gorgeous, an angel sent to save him.

He could see some of him on her as well, her eyes and brown hair, still so tin and soft around his fingertips. He didn't notice but his eyes watered and when your gaze finally met his, you were crying too. You held Violet in your arms and Bucky just stared at her in awe, unable to speak a single word as his emotions took control over him. Violet held his thumb with her tiny hand and he chuckled, his laugh followed by a sob as happy tears ran on his cheeks. It was like he was staring at the sun, his own personal sunshine. His body filled with hope and all the darkness suddenly disappeared from his soul. 

"That's your father, my sweet girl." You practically sang to Violet before kissing her forehead and the princess giggled a little, moving her chumby arms towards Bucky. She was a curious little thing, her blue eyes widened as she reached for her father. 

You were all sitting on the grass, your favorite spot in the Castle's garden, the one you cherished the most. You could feel the soft breeze caressing your skin and the sweet smell of the flowers nearby. Bucky was still quiet, but you can see he is happier than before, when you found him. Maybe with time, he would be back to his old self, he just needed a reason to live again and you brought that to him. 

"Do you want to hold her, James?" You ask softly to him, Bucky shakes his head in disbelief at your suggestion. 

"I just… I can't, (Y/N). Not anymore." He motions to his missing arm, his right hand still holding Violet's fingers on his. Her grip was strong and he smiled at her again.

"I'll help you, Bucky. It will be fine, trust me." You moved closer to him, placing the little princess on her father's arm, still holding her while she snuggled against Bucky's chest. He took a deep breath and then relaxed when he felt his daughter’s warm embrace.

"See? She loves you, Bucky. We love you so much." You reassure him and his glossy blue orbs meet yours again. Your heart beats faster, filled with happiness seeing your family finally together. 

Violet falls asleep again with a sweet smile on her face and her soft snoring is music to yours and Bucky's ears. He laughs a little, still thinking this is all a dream, that this couldn't be happening to him after all the horror and pain he witnessed.

"You gave me the most perfect gift, my love. I'm sorry for not being worthy of your love anymore." He speaks and you shush him, placing your hand on his bearded cheek. 

"Nonsense, my king. I'll always love you. We will always love you. I missed you so much." You confess, your voice almost a whisper to not wake the little princess sleeping peacefully in her father’s chest.

"I missed you too." His words are laced with the pain he went through and your hand tugged on his dark locks, he sighs and closes his eyes, content with your touch filled with love and affection. His skin is warm under your fingertips and you trace his strong jaw, your thumb caressing his lips. You slowly move towards him, closing the gap between the two of you, placing your lips on his in a tender kiss. Bucky kisses you back, his heart almost bursting on his chest and he realizes how much he really missed you.

You smile at him after the kiss, only you could put his walls down and let his true self climb to the surface again. You always saw the best of him, even when he couldn't see it himself. You were always there for him and now, he had everything he always wanted.
