TW: abuse, taught hate, a bit of violent authorities, blood, and death

"There's nothing more vile in this world than witches," the king spat.

"Why?" a seven year old Roman asked, holding a young Remus's hand.

"They're demons, their magic is unnatural. They're all like snakes, they can turn on you in any second."

"I like snakes!" Remus protested.

"It's a metaphor, actual snakes are saints compared to witches. I suppose witches are more like demons, all of them. Their magic is strongest at night, when it's dark. They're only out for themselves, they're selfish creatures. That's why they all must burn."

"Is that why you're having them all killed?"

"Exactly, I'm protecting my kingdom by doing this."

"Won't it make the witches angry?" Roman asked.

"Perhaps, but there are many of us and in time we can defeat them all. Remember this, there are many ways to weaken a witch. Their magic has limits, if they continue to cast spells, especially strong ones, then it will weaken them. Most witches have an amulet of some sorts, if you can take the amulet from them it will weaken them over time. And if you can destroy it, that's even better, it would put the witch in extreme anguish and it will drain their power. Since they're more powerful during the night, it's best to fight them during the day if you can."

"Are we going to have to fight witches?" Remus inquired.

"It is possible, I'm just telling you this just to be safe. You never know what the future holds."

"What are you doing here?" Roman hissed. Remus was eavesdropping on their father who was in the throne room. Both of the twins were twelve.

"Demons! All of them!" Roman flinched when he heard his father roar in anger.

Remus put a finger to his mouth and grabbed Roman's wrist, pulling him away.

"What happened?" Roman asked.

"A knight we sent over to a nearby village was killed by a witch," Remus whispered.

"What? That's horrible!"

"I don't know, the messenger said the knight was killed while confronting a witch. Maybe it was self defense?"

"Remus, are you defending a murderer!"

"Maybe you're right, but it just seems like the witches that we've caught haven't done much wrong. They were just living, not hurting anyone."

"Shush! If father heard you say that then he would punish you!"

"Oh let him, you're his favorite after all."

"I am not!"

"You're extremely loyal without question."

"Father is our king! Our loyalty is to him first! Without any questions!"

"Dang, you're like a dog. Think about yourself for once." Remus poked Roman in the forehead. "Or maybe think about the innocent people we've killed just because they're witches."

Remus walked off before Roman could say anything else. Roman was thankful no one heard Remus say anything, their father was scary when he was angry.

Once Remus was sent away for six months for speaking out of turn, he was sent to a school so he could be taught manners and how to be a prince. When he came back, the only difference was he was extremely careful when speaking in front of their father and loyal staff members.
