Sophie threw on a light jacket, slipped into a pair of boots, and ran down the stairs as fast as Silveny when she heard the rustle of a bag at feeding time. Speaking of the mini-pony, Sophie quickly filled the little animal's (well, she wasn't so little) food bowl, aka a dog bowl, with hay pellets. Silveny came trotting along, and Sophie gave her a quick pat.
"Bye, girl!" Silveny let out a puff of air, letting Sophie know that she appreciated the attention, before she buried her pink snout into the bowl, and began munching away. Casting one quick glance around to make sure the squirrel, Iggy, hadn't managed to escape again, Sophie nodded, and rushed out the front door. Luckily, Iggy hadn't yet figured out a way to open his new cage.
Sophie saw that her dad, Grady, was waiting in the front seat for her. Sophie briskly walked towards the car, and hopped into the passenger seat. "Let's go!" She announced, breathing hard.
"Seat belt?" Grady inquired, raising an eyebrow. Sophie quickly complied.
"Seat belt!" She replied.
Grady backed up from the Ruewen's drive way, and the two were on their way. Fortunately for them, the school was a mere five minutes away when they drove. Grady was taking Sophie to her parent teacher conferences. At her high school, Sophie basically got to pick a few teachers to go see, and those teachers would speak to the Grady. Even though the event was technically an open house, from four to five- forty five, the two had had to rush to make it there for the last twenty-thirty minutes.
The reason for their lateness was a combination of a bunch of smaller things. Sophie had gotten home from school (she had walked home with Dex as usual), done around forty five minutes of homework, walked Silveny, took a quick shower, and fed the house pets. Somehow it had taken forever, but the majority of the stuff was just homework from Madam Belvin. Sophie really hated chemistry sometimes.
Anyway, the two pulled up into the school parking lot, and walked quickly into the building, checking in with Ms. Lexx on their way.
"All right, kiddo," Grady said, glancing at a school map. "Which teacher first? We only have time for a few." Sophie ultimately decided to go to Ms. Oralie's art room, and Tiergan's math room.
Their visit to the art room was fun. Ms. Oralie was positive about Sophie, and as kind as always. Sophie got to point out some of her art pieces that hung on the wall to Grady. Horrendous as they were, Grady congratulated her on each one. Ms. Oralie smiled warmly, said goodbye to Sophie and Grady, and Grady told Sophie to go to the next classroom she wanted to show him.
Grady followed behind, matching Sophie's quick pace, and Sophie was happy to see her understanding and fun math teacher as they entered a classroom near the lunchroom.
Halting suddenly, Grady grinned from ear-to-ear, and so did Mr. Tiergan. The two glanced at each other, as if trying to confirm a suspicion.
"Tiergan?" He asked in surprise.
"Grady, it has been way too long!" Came Tiergan's reply. Sophie looked back and forth between the two, until Grady came to his senses and clued her in as to what was going on. Apparently, the two had known each other in high school. They seemed familiar, but they must have not been super close, seeing as Sophie hadn't heard about the two of them knowing each other in the past.
